    Tickton's Kyle Edmund is out of the Australian Open, defeated 6-2 6-4 6-2 by Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta. 

    The British number two produced an impressive victory to reach the second round but was unable to maintain that form against the 30th seed. 

    Edmund made too many errors as he lost in an hour and 46 minutes.

    The mother of Poppy Widdison and her ex-partner have each been given 13 year jail sentences for child cruelty and drug offences.   

    Poppy Widdison collapsed at her home in Grimsby and later died in hospital from a cardiac arrest in June 2013.

    Her mother Michala Pyke, 37, of Ladysmith Road, and her former partner John Rytting, 40, of Frederick Street denied giving her drugs in the months before her death.

    Six sheltered housing buildings in North East Lincolnshire could be demolished.

    Housing charity Shoreline is consulting residents of three this year and a further three next year. 

    Beech Court, The Elms, and Stratford, Elliot, Matthew Quinn and Warwick Houses could all close. 

    Chief Executive of Shoreline, Tony Bramley tole me its down to a funding gap.

    It's been confirmed that the blade in Hull doesn't have planning permission to be in Queen Victoria Square.

    Hull City council say planning permission isn't needed for land being used for an event of up to 28 days. However the blade is to stay in the square till March 2017.

    The council has released the following statement.

    “Nationally, planning permission is not needed on a piece of land that is being used for an event that is to last up to 28 days. However, as the installation will be temporarily located in Queen Victoria Square for longer, we understand the Hull 2017 team are now preparing an application for planning permission, which will then go through our usual planning process.”

    The City of Culture team is yet to confirm that this is the case.

    A deer at the Waters' Edge Country Park in Barton has had to be put down after being attacked by a dog.

    Daphne the deer was a much-loved inhabitant and North Lincolnshire Council say she will be sadly missed., external

    The animal was left with such terrible injuries that she could not be saved.

    North Lincolnshire Council is offering a £200 reward for any information that leads to a successful prosecution.

    “If any member of the public has any information on this incident, please contact our environment team. Daphne was very popular with visitors at Waters’ Edge and she was always very welcoming.     Crime in the Humberside Force area has gone up by 9% in the last year according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics. 

    North Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding have all seen rises although crime has fallen in North East Lincolnshire by 4%. 

    The Police and Crime Commissioner says the trend is a cause for concern.

    A man has died five days after being rescued from his flat when it was set alight in an apparent arson attack.

    John Roach's home in Stannage Walk was set on fire after a burning wheelie bin was pushed up against his front door.

    The 67-year-old was treated in hospital following the blaze on Friday but died on Wednesday after being discharged. A post-mortem examination is due to take place, Humberside Police said.

    A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

    Using coloured sheets the windows have been lit up in the tower blocks - all for City of Culture.

    I went to meet the Chair of the Residents Association, he told me he's thrilled that the estate can now be seen by thousands of people,

    Two branches of the Yorkshire Bank in this area are to close. 

    They are on Hessle Road in Hull and in Goole. 

    A third of the bank's branch network is closing with the loss of more than 400 jobs. The bank says it is responding to the way its customers now bank with them.

    People on a hull estate are being warned this morning about the threat posed by loan sharks. 

    Hull and East Yorkshire Credit Union wants residents on Greatfield Estate to open savings accounts instead.

    They say unauthorised lenders use bullying tactics and make people's lives a misery.

    Shoreline has begun a consultation on the future of the properties in Laceby, Humberston and Grimsby. 

    It could mean the homes for older people are knocked down.
