    The lifeboat station in Cleethorpes at night with volunteers working there.

    The RNLI lifeboat station in Cleethorpes is celebrating 30 years of saving lives.

    It was on this day in 1987 the station was declared "on service".

    In that time volunteer crews have launched nearly 1,200 times, rescued almost 800 people and saved more than 240 lives.

    The world's best cyclists will be heading to Beverley in 2019 as plans for the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) world championships head to Yorkshire.

    Part of the race is expected to start in Beverley.

    It's hoped it'll build on the success of the Tour de France in 2014 and the Tour de Yorkshire.

    It's thought the race will finish in Harrogate and other start location could include Leeds, Doncaster and York.

    Assurances are being sought that tower blocks in North Lincolnshire are safe following the Grenfell Tower disaster in London.

    Today it's expected that the retired Appeal Court judge Sir Martin Moore-Bick, will be appointed to lead the public inquiry into the Grenfell Tower disaster.

    North Lincolnshire Council will also seek assurances from housing provider Ongo and Humberside Fire and Rescue that the tower blocks in the area are safe.

    In Hull, the council says if anyone has any concerns about living in high-rise flats in the city they should contact them on 01482 300 300 or email HS-Communications@hullcc.gov.uk, external.

    After the recent hot weather (but not this week), Beverley Racecourse has teamed up with Yorkshire Cancer Research to give away free sun tan lotion to spectators and staff.

    The idea is to raise awareness of the dangers of skin cancer and there'll be free sun tan lotion dispensers around the racecourse and wristbands will also be available which will tell you if you need to cover up.

    The scheme is being launched at the race meeting on Friday 7 July and money raised from the wristbands will go to Yorkshire Cancer Research.

    Up to 2,000 jobs could be created in a new industrial development site in Stallingborough.

    The Portlink 180 site is part of the Humber Enterprize Zone and has been allocated for storage, distribution or light industrial uses.

    The site is now for sale and will include warehouse and industrial facilities which can be leased.

    New figures show 90% of people who live in Hull have taken part in City of Culture 2017 events so far this year.

    The research, carried out by the University of Hull, shows there've been over 1.4m visits to events in total during the first six months of Hull 2017.

    East Yorkshire's dog owners are being warned about bogus dog chipping websites.

    Several sites which charge about £15 to update dogs' chip information but don't actually make any changes have been discovered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

    Dogs have to be microchipped by law and it is an offence not to keep your details up to date.

    The authority is urging dog owners to check the websites they use are genuine.

    Children are risking their lives trespassing in a dilapidated former trawler company building in Hull in a bid to take selfies and videos, police have warned.

    A total of 18 teenagers have been escorted off the site of the Lord Line building in the last month, say police.

    As the asbestos-riddled building continues to decay, it's attracting more and more youngsters, according to police.

    Manor Property says it's spent hundreds of thousands of pounds securing the site, but officers are now patrolling it every day to stop people putting their lives at risk for the sake of a selfie.

  15. Witness appeal over rape in Goolepublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    Police are appealing for help in their investigation into a rape in Goole in which an 18-year-old woman was attacked on her way home last month.

    It happened at about 03:30 on Monday 1 May and the CCTV image above was captured by an Associated British Ports camera.

    Police say they want to speak to the woman in the picture who was wearing a long white scarf.

    Anyone with any information is being asked to contact police.

    A flood warning, external remains in place in Bridlington for this evening's high tide.

    That means flooding is expected so immediate action is required.

    Wave overtopping is expected to cause some flooding around the North Harbour area between 19:45 and 22.30:

  17. Hull estate's yellow lines spark anger among residentspublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

    People living on a new housing estate in Hull say they're unhappy about double yellow lines which they say have mysteriously appeared overnight.

    Residents of the Ings Estate say they're annoyed the council's decided to paint the lines in front of their homes on Perivale Close, meaning there's nowhere to park vehicles nearby.

    Hull City Council says it did post notices about the yellow lines and got no objections.

    The authority adds it'll now meet residents to discuss their concerns:

    A total of 90% of people from Hull have been to see a City of Culture event since the start of the year, according to figures published today.

    But they aren't alone - 342,000 people came along to see the opening Made In Hull event and visits to the Maritime Museum and Ferens Art Gallery are up over 500% year on year.

    Chief Constable Lee Freeman took was officially confirmed in his new role on Monday.

    One of his promises was to recruit 300 new officers over the next 12 to 18 months.

    Those recruits are due to be taken on over the next three years.

    Inspectors have said the number of frontline staff in the force has fallen by 21% since 2010.
