    A library in North East Lincolnshire which was threatened with closure has been given a new lease of life.

    Today the team at the old Grant Thorold library in Grimsby have opened the Tea in the Park cafe at the Community Hub.

    Nathan Taylor runs it and says the support they've had from local residents has been fantastic.

    "We've been absolutely overwhelmed with the community coming to see us. We did a 'soft opening' last Wednesday and it's not stopped since," says Mr Taylor.

  4. Lincolnshire derby kick-offs brought forward 'on police advice'published at 16:36 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    Earlier we told you about plans to move Grimsby Town's derby with Mansfield forward.

    And now Lincoln City are back in the football league there are some big local games in the mix.

    This afternoon it's been decided that the Lincoln v Grimsby derbies will also be moved forward.

    A flood warning has been issued for Bridlington on Wednesday morning.

    The Environment Agency says wave overtopping is expected to cause some flooding in the area around the North Harbour between 08:45 and 10:00 on Wednesday.

    A flood warning means flooding is expected and immediate action is required.

    There are also flood alerts in place for Bridlington, Withernsea, Easington and Kilnsea, which means flooding is possible and people in the area need to be prepared.

    Chelsea trainee and Norwich City goalkeeper Ben Killip has joined Grimsby Town on trial, the club has confirmed.

    The Mariners say the 21-year-old trained with the team today.

    But the club says goalkeeper coach Andy Warrington is looking at other options in the next few days.

  7. Hull 'gig theatre' group wins £600k fundingpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    A young theatre company from Hull will get £600,000 over the next four years from the Arts Council, it's been announced.

    Middle Child Theatre (pictured) has recently been performing to sell-out audiences at Hull's Welly nightclub, with its "gig theatre" production All We Ever Wanted Was Everything.

    The funding is part of a £157m investment in arts projects across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

  8. River Hull targeted as part of £25m maritime attractions boostpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    Here's a look at what Hull's North End Shipyard could look like after a planned multi-million pound redevelopment:

    It's one of the areas targeted as part of a £27m investment in the city's maritime attractions which has been announced today, funded by a £15m Heritage Lottery Fund grant and £12.5m of council investment.

    The dock will be the new home of the Arctic Corsair trawler, Hull's last sidewinder trawler, which will be restored as part of the project.

    Leader of Hull City Council, Stephen Brady, says: "This investment will allow the city to celebrate and reflect on its past, present and future as Yorkshire's Maritime City".

    A man's recovering after being assaulted by a cyclist in Grimsby.

    The 57-year-old was left with minor injuries following the attack on Cromwell Road at about 11:00 on Monday.

    The cyclist shouted at the man before assaulting him and leaving his bike behind, officers believe.

    Anyone who saw what happened is being asked to contact the police.

  11. Leconfield flypast marks 72 Squadron centenarypublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    A special formation of RAF Tucano aircraft is expected to fly over the former site of RAF Leconfield later today.

    It's to mark the centenary of 72 Squadron, the last remaining RAF squadron to have flown Spitfires in World War Two.

    The Tucanos are due to fly over all but two of the squadron's former bases.

    72 Squadron was founded in July 1917 and was involved in the Battle of Britain in 1940.

    Today's fly-over is due to take place just after 15:30 this afternoon.

    A North Lincolnshire arts organisation which aims to support the work of local artists has been awarded a £300,000 cash boost.

    The money, from the Arts Council, has been awarded to the Waterside Artists Co-Operative and is part of a £157m injection for arts organisations across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

    The co-operative runs the Ropewalk in Barton Upon Humber, an arts centre which houses three galleries and 12 artists' workshops.

    The centre, based in a formery ropery building, a grade II-listed structure which is a quarter of a mile long, is said to attract about 20,000 visitors per year.

  14. Hull will become 'world-class visitor destination' - Council leaderpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    A £27m investment in Hull's maritime attractions is a huge vote of confidence in the city, according to the leader of Hull City Council.

    The money will go towards developing sites including the Maritime Museum and the historic vessels, the Arctic Corsair and Spurn Lightship

    The Arctic Corsair, Hull's last sidewinder trawler, will be moved to a dry dock at the North End Shipyard and used to host tours.

    The work will be funded by a £15m Heritage Lottery Fund grant and £12.5m of council investment.

  15. Hull fire engine gets Pride make-overpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    One of Hull's fire engines has been given a bit of a make-over.

    The Humberside Fire and Rescue truck has been given a new design to celebrate Pride in Hull, external - and the first ever UK Pride event which is coming to the city next month.

    It celebrates 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalised in the UK.

    Mansfield Town's home game against Grimsby Town has been brought forward by two hours, external on the advice of police.

    Yesterday it was announced both of Mansfield's games against Chesterfield this season will also be 13:00 kick-offs following police advice.

  17. Humber arts to benefit from £27m cash boostpublished at 10:44 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    There's been another announcement of funding coming to the Humber region this morning, following news of a £27m cash injection for Hull's maritime attractions.

    This time it's an investment of more than £9m over the next four years from the Arts Council.

    Middle Child Theatre (pictured), Artlink Hull, Freedom Festival Arts Trust, Hull City Council and Hull Truck Theatre will all benefit from the funding.

    Pocklington Arts Centre, The Junction in Goole and the Waterside Artists Cooperative in Barton will also get money.

    Pete Massey, the Arts Council’s North Director says: "We know that art and culture can transform lives and places and we want more people across Yorkshire to be able to enjoy and take part in cultural activities."

  18. Fears grow over health of missing womanpublished at 10:17 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    Concerns are growing for the safety and health of a woman from Hornsea who's been missing from her home since last week and may now be in West Yorkshire.

    Sarah Broderick was last seen in Rolston at about 08:30 on Saturday morning and it's thought she may have travelled to Leeds.

    Police say they're particularly worried because she is in need of medication which is now well overdue.

    Sarah's described as 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build with light brown hair, and she was last seen wearing all black clothing and carrying a pink handbag.

    Anyone with information about her whereabouts is being asked to contact police as soon as possible.

    Hull's maritime attractions are to undergo a full restoration, thanks to a £27m investment by the City Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.

    Here's a look at where the money will be spent:

    • The Maritime Museum will be reconfigured, with extra exhibition space. Visitors will also be able to access one of the domes, giving views over the city.
    • The Dock Office Chambers will be converted to house the maritime collection.
    • The Arctic Corsair trawler will be restored and relocated to a dry dock at the North End Shipyard. A visitor centre will also be built.
    • The Spurn Lightship will undergo full conservation and be returned to Hull Marina.
