  1. Scunthorpe body: Council suspend waste collection for five dayspublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    North Lincolnshire Council has suspended residential and trade waste collection over the next five days in the area near to where a body was found.

    Earlier today we told you that police had found a body in Scunthorpe near Mary Street and investigations were ongoing.

    The area affected (pictured) includes Exeter Road, Cliff Gardens, Oswald Road and Doncaster Road boundary and all the streets within the area.

    Once clearance is given from the police the council will make sure all collections are brought up to date.

    Play has just resumed at Scarborough between Yorkshire and Somerset in the first division of the County Championship.

    The White Rose reached 110-6 in reply to the visitors' first innings total of 268 all out.

    A recent exhibition at Hull History Centre has been one of the most popular since the venue opened in 2010.

    'The Hessle Roaders: Hull's Fishing Community' displayed 100 photographs, selected from over 6,600 images, taken over a period of thirty years by Hull historian Dr Alec Gill MBE.

    Here's our report from when the exhibition opened:

    There were over 8,000 public visits to the History Centre to see the images and over the first half of the year the History Centre has seen a 35% increase in visitors, but the Hessle Road photographs in June this year saw the number of visits to the History Centre triple compared with June 2016.

    The RSPB at Bempton Cliffs will be putting on mini cruises for people who want to view thousands of gannet birds feeding (pictured).

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a hate crime took place on Cottingham Road near to The Gardeners Arms pub in Hull (pictured).

    The incident involved two white men in their 20's in a black Saab car who pulled up next to a woman and made a gun shape at her whilst shouting 'bang bang'.

    The incident took place around 15:30 on Thursday 29 June and police are appealing for witnesses.

  7. Hull primary school going to House of Lords for national sport awardpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    A Hull school that won an award for having more children than ever before in competitive sport is going to the House of Lords.

    Gillshill Primary came first at the Yorkshire and Humber awards last week and will now bid to a title nationally.

    Stats such as participation figures and how successful the school has been will be shown to a panel of judges.

  9. Outdated views on HIV fuel stigma and discrimination - Charitypublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Would you go on a date with someone who has HIV? What about stopping in the street to give someone first aid - Would HIV make you change you mind?

    Apparently, loads of us still don't understand the virus and, according to the Terrence Higgins Trust, external, nearly a third of people in Yorkshire and the Humber region would be uncomfortable giving first aid to someone living with HIV on effective treatment.

    The charity is now warning that out-of-date beliefs about HIV transmission are fuelling stigma and discrimination, which prevents people coming forward for testing.

    Mick Mason, regional manager for the trust, says: "It is saddening to see that, in 2017, people in Yorkshire and the Humber are still being treated differently because of their HIV status."

    A cash machine has been stolen from a petrol station in Gilberdyke.

    Police were called at 02:36 today to the incident on Main Road.

    A fork lift has been used to pull out the cash machine and a white BMW and a black pick-up, with the driver's side rear lights out, were then seen leaving the area towards Howden.

    Police are appealing for witnesses.

  12. Police appeal to trace relatives of deceased Scunthorpe womanpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Police are appealing for the family of a 42-year-old Scunthorpe woman to come forward.

    Deborah Anne Pulley was found dead at her home on Dryden Way in Scunthorpe on Saturday.

    Police say Ms Pulley's death was not suspicious and they've so far not been able to trace her family.

    The last two remaining Georgian properties on Hull's Humber Street (pictured) could be demolished.

    Councillors will decide tomorrow on whether to approve an application to knock down the two buildings to make way for a new development.

    Historic England and the city's Civic Society have objected to the proposals, saying demolition would cause irreversible harm to the character of the conservation area.

    Developer Wykeland Beal says the buildings are unstable and in an extremely poor condition.

    It says the new structures will be in keeping with the rest of Humber Street.

    The body of a man has been found in Scunthorpe by police in the area near Mary Street.

    Police were investigating reports that a man had been seriously injured in what was thought to have been an assault when they found the body.

    A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

    Police have now launched an investigation.

    Grimsby's MP Melanie Onn (pictured) has raised new concerns about claims of poor management at the hospital trust which covers hospitals in Goole, Scunthorpe and Grimsby.

    She's asked managers at the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole (NLAG) NHS Foundation Trust to respond to allegations made to her in an anonymous letter which raises concerns about patient safety, treatment of staff and the way complaints are dealt with.
