  2. Man robbed by group with craft knife in Bridlingtonpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    A 32-year-old man in Bridlington has been robbed by four men on bikes with a craft knife.

    The victim was walking down an alleyway when the four men threatened him with a craft knife before stealing a £20 note and cycling away.

    The incident happened on Tuesday around 13:45 in an alleyway between Holyrood Avenue and Haslemere Avenue in Bridlington.

    The victim suffered minor injuries and police are appealing for witnesses.

  3. Have you seen missing Howden man Craig Farrow?published at 17:39 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Police are appealing for help to find missing 36-year-old Howden man Craig Farrow who went missing from his home a week ago.

    Police are concerned because Craig has some health conditions which require treatment and he hasn't been in touch with his family.

    Hull FC could be second in Super League after tonight's clash at St Helens - if they win the game.

    The club lost a tight match at leaders Castleford last week and have named the same squad.

  7. Court of Appeal dismisses challenge by Beverley's Lakeminster Park residentspublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Court of Appeal judges have dismissed the latest challenge from residents over the status of a holiday home park near Beverley in East Yorkshire (pictured).

    Lakeminster Park's chalet owners are being evicted from the site by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

    This latest case had hoped to overturn the findings of a planning inquiry three years ago, which said that the properties were built there without permission.

  8. Northern rail strike over next three dayspublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    The rail union RMT is planning three days of strike action on Arriva Rail North starting tomorrow.

    The action is about the long running dispute over rail safety and driver-only-operated trains.

    Northern Rail says more than 40% of their normal timetable will run and there will be additional rail replacement buses.

  9. £300k to stop young Hull men becoming abuserspublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Hull City Council has been awarded £300,000 to support young men aged 16-17 who are at risk of committing domestic abuse.

    The money, which has come from the Home Office, will be spent on a new programme designed to reduce offending rates.

    The MP for Beverley and Holderness says people in East Yorkshire must accept that the money does not exist to protect every community from coastal erosion.

  11. Outdoor cinema screening in Hullpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    People in Hull can see the city's first ever outdoor riverside cinema screening tonight.

    Stage@TheDock (pictured) will show La La Land as part of Hull's Film Festival.

    As well as the showing, there will be impromptu dance lessons from Kingston Swing and themed food and cocktails.

    SMG, who will be running the Hull Venue on behalf of Hull City Council, have been inundated with enquiries about the arena which will hold up to 3,500 people.

    Concrete road blocks have returned to Hull's Queen Victoria Square.

    The defences have been put up as a precaution ahead of the University of Hull graduation ceremonies which are being held at City Hall next week, the council says.

    They were first put up earlier this year after the London terror attacks and the council says it hopes to have a permanent solution in the longer term.

    We've been getting the first look around a new £36m concert venue and conference centre being built near the A63 Castle Street junction in Hull.

    The Venue will hold up to 3,500 people and create 30 full-time jobs and it could bring in around £13m to Hull's economy every year.

    The work currently underway here is seven months into the construction phase of the project with the opening scheduled for early next year.

    Children at Hull Collegiate School will leave barefoot today as they begin their summer holidays.

    They're being asked to leave their school shoes behind on their desks so they can be given to schoolchildren in Africa.

    It's part of a charity initiative called Sals Shoes.

  17. New calls for full inquiry into blood contaminationpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    A Hull man who was among thousands infected by contaminated blood during the 1970s and 1980s is once again urging the government to hold a full judicial inquiry into why it happened.

    Glenn Wilkinson was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 1983 after a routine operation to remove two teeth at Hull Royal Infirmary.

    He describes the contamination scandal as the worst peacetime disaster since the Second World War and says it's time someone was prosecuted.

    Mr Wilkinson has now been backed by a call in the Commons by Hull North Labour MP Diana Johnson for Theresa May to address the issue.

    Responding, the Prime Minister said serious allegations have been made and information will be looked at by minsters from the Department of Health:

  18. Hull man arrested after woman dies in crashpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    A man from Hull's been arrested in connection with the death of a woman on the A38 near Burton-on-Trent in East Staffordshire.

    The 39-year-old remains in police custody after the collision, external which was reported at around 20:30 last night.

    The woman who died has yet to be identified and police are now carrying out a detailed investigation.

  19. Man dies after motorcycle crash near Bartonpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    A 38-year-old man has died after his motorcycle hit a tree in the Barton upon Humber area.

    The incident happened on Caistor Road, 800 metres from the junction of Burnham Road at 13:15 yesterday afternoon.

    The man died at the scene and police are appealing for witnesses.
