    Hull City will give a medical to Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart this evening according to reports this lunchtime.

    It's ahead of a proposed move worth up to £8m.

    Meanwhile Eldin Jakupovic has revealed he would've been happy to stay at City but was unable to agree a new deal after talks about with the club.

    His move to Leicester City was officially announced yesterday morning.

    Businesses in our area are being asked for their ideas on how to secure funding for East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire once Britain leaves the European Union.

    The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership is looking into how funding from the EU has been used across the area and how to fund projects already commissioned using European structural funds.

    It's hoped they can help make the case for funding to be replaced by the government once Britain leaves the European Union.

    The MP for Hull North Diana Johnson has told the Commons the Department of Health should not be involved in an inquiry into the contaminated blood scandal.

    The government hasn't yet decided what kind of inquiry will be held.

    Over 2,400 people have died and thousands of others have been left with serious illnesses after they were infected with Hepatitis C and HIV from blood products imported by the NHS in the 1970s and 80s.

    The government is looking at having a judge-led investigation or setting up a Hillsborough style panel.

    The director of Hull City of Culture's Richard III and one of Yorkshire's best known stage actors is to step down as artistic director of the theatre company Northern Broadsides.

    Barrie Rutter (pictured) has made the decision after the company failed to attract a grant increase from the Arts Council.

    He formed the company 25 years ago with the aim of promoting northern voices and performers.

    Mr Rutter was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to drama.

    A Hull charity which refurbishes homes for veterans has won a silver medal for their first show garden.

    The landscaping team from Hull 4 Heroes are exhibiting at the Tatton Flower Show.

    The garden is designed to be a tranquil space for a veteran, but the charity hopes their display will also raise awareness of the issue of post traumatic stress disorder.

    Concern is growing for a missing Bridlington man, external who could be in need of urgent medical attention.

    Police are searching for 32-year-old Russell Harrison who's been missing from his home in Hilderthorpe Road since yesterday.

    Anyone who sees Russell or has any information, is asked to call police on the 101 number.

    The leader of Hull City Council has today confirmed that plans for a cruise terminal are still on the agenda.

    Stephen Brady said "We are still pursuing a cruise terminal for Hull and will see the project through."

    Cleethorpes could get a new £2m entertainment centre.

    Plans have been submitted by Extreme Bounce Revolution to develop the empty land next to the Premier Inn in Cleethorpes.

    If it gets the go-ahead it would be one of the country's first air supported dome structures designed for family entertainment.

    The company behind it hope the 15 different activities on offer will attract up to 400,000 visitors a year and employ 80 people.

  10. New road scheme to improve traffic in Hull announcedpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

    One of Hull's main roads is to get a £7.5m upgrade.

    Stoneferry Road will be improved to help to ease congestion on the A63.

    It was announced by Lord Haskins, chair of the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership this morning.

    Lord Haskins tells me they are working, long-term, towards a new ring road right round Hull and extending the M11 to the Humber Bridge.

    Power cuts are affecting the HU3 and HU5 areas of Hull.

    About 1,700 properties are thought to be without electricity.

    Northern Powergrid say engineers are working to restore power and it should be back on by about 12:30.

    It was a climb of more than 3,000 feet to the top of one of the highest mountains in Britian.

    Jason Liversidge from Rise in East Yorkshire completed the journey up Snowdon in eight hours in his wheel chair.

    Jason, who has Motor Neurone Disease. says he was relieved and delighted to make it.

    He has so far raised over half of his £5,000 target for Dove House and Marie Curie.

    Plans for a so-called "super prison" in an East Yorkshire village go before councillors today.

    The jail, which would hold more than 1,000 inmates, would be built next to the high-security Full Sutton jail near Pocklington.

    People living nearby say it could compromise their safety, but the government says it is working with the community.

    The trust which runs hospitals in Grimsby and Scunthorpe says there's a "critical" shortage of staff in two departments.

    The Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Trust says the urology and the ear, nose and throat services do not have enough consultants.

    They say action is needed to make sure they continue to run safely.
