    The leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Cllr Rob Waltham, is urging residents to clean-up their act and stop dumping rubbish on the streets of Scunthorpe.

    The council has instigated a major operation in Crosby, Park and Town wards in a bid to educate residents and clean-up the area.

    It follows feedback from residents about the increase in the amount of rubbish on the streets and ten foots.

    Almost 7,000 drivers have been giving their views on traffic in and around Beverley.

    It's part of a survey aimed at easing congestion around the Jocks Lodge area of Beverley on the A164 road heading towards Willerby.

    East Riding Council say once their plans are put together they will bid for funding from the Department for Transport.

    The scheme will only be completed if they council are able to secure funding.

    A woman who died on a dual carriageway in Staffordshire has been identified, external, almost a fortnight after it happened.

    Staffordshire Police says Veronika Pugaciova, 33, was from Lithuania but was living in Hull.

    They say she was travelling in a van with a 39-year-old man on 6 July when she was hit by a car on the A38 near Burton after leaving the vehicle.

    The man's been charged with breaching a restraining order and remanded in custody, and will appear in court next month.

    He was also arrested on suspicion of causing Ms Pugaciova’s death, police say, but has been released pending further investigation.

    An old fortress built for Henry VIII will be rediscovered in Hull this week.

    The walls of the old fortress will be marked out on the floor near to the east bank of the River Hull, close to the Deep.

    The 142nd Driffield Show opens this morning.

    More than 25,000 visitors are expected at what organisers say is Yorkshire's biggest one-day agricultural event.

    It'll include livestock and heavy horse demonstrations, as well as opportunities to talk to local food producers and chefs in a food theatre.

    There's concern for a 14-year-old girl who's been missing from her home in Grimsby since Tuesday morning.

    Holly Jagger was last seen at her home on Louth Road at about 11:00 yesterday.

    Police are asking for anyone who's seen her or knows where she is to get in touch on the 101 number.

    Hull North MP, Diana Johnson today asked why pay for public sector workers is not dealt with on the same basis as that of MPs.

    It comes after the announcement that senior military officers, judges and top civil servants are to get a 1% rise in the coming year, in line with the Government's public sector pay 'cap'.

    Ministers have accepted a recommendation from the Senior Salaries Review body, but Diana told the Commons that it was wrong that members of parliament had been paid above the norm in recent years while others missed out

    Motor Neurone Disease sufferer Jason Liversidge from Rise near Hornsea has succeeded in his challenge to climb Mount Snowdon.

    It's been difficult and emotional, but Jason who lost the use of his legs a year ago, has today successfully climbed one of the highest mountains in the UK in a specially adapted 4x4 wheelchair to raise money for Dove House Hospice and Marie Curie.

    Senior figures at Hull City Council are today calling for changes in the law to stop property developers from holding onto land without actually completing the work.

    Counciller Stephen Brady and Councillor Martin Mancey have highlighted the Lord Line building and the former Clarence Mills site, both owned by the Manor Property Group, as areas of particular concern.

    There are now calls for the Chief Executive to write to the government to request changes to the law to deal with it.

    Manor Properties have been approached for comment.

    The MP for Great Grimsby, Melanie Onn has been elected to chair the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Fisheries.

    The cross-party group of MPs regularly meets to take evidence from key players in the seafood industry and experts, and also has the chance to grill Government Ministers on their policies towards fisheries.
