    Hull City Council has announced plans to more than double the number of changing places, external facilities in the city.

    They're disabled toilets fitted with extra space and specialised equipment, including an adjustable changing bench.

    There are currently four in the city centre - with at least seven more expected to be rolled out across the area by next year.

    Humberside Police have unveiled two new police cars in Queen Victoria Square today, which when parked side by side, form a rainbow - a symbol of LGBT Pride.

    It’s all part of the of the City of Culture’s Challenge Hull initiative, which invites organisations to set weekly challenges for people to take part in and share on social media with the hashtag #ChallengeHull.

    The challenge for this week was set by Pride in Hull to ‘make a rainbow.’

    The first UK national Pride event takes place in Hull on 22 July.

    A cyclist has died after being hit by a lorry on Hessle Road in Hull this morning.

    The incident happen in the west of the city at around 07:30, which meant both sides of the road had to be closed.

    Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses

    Once upon a time it was a run down ramshackle mess in danger of being demolished - today the birthplace of J Arthur Rank is being recognised as a important building to our heritage 'nationwide' after receiving listed building status - alongside the Humber Bridge and the birthplace of Phillip Larkin.

    A cancer support charity is urging people with worries about cancer to make the most of their mobile service while it's in East Yorkshire.

    Macmillan is offering free advice across the region over the next few days.

    The service will be on King Street in Bridlington today and Beverley Market Place on Tuesday - before appearing at Driffield Show on Wednesday.

    Staff will give advice to anyone with concerns about cancer, and specialist advice about sun safety will be available.

    Now we all like to see a bit of kindness and it's definitely being shown in a little shop in Bridlington called Angela Bare.

    Angela fits mastectomy bras for women who have undergone surgery - and she's raised thousands to make sure she can provide that first one for free.

    She does it because she says good quality mastectomy bras are expensive at a time when women are going through enough.

    She's now hoping to provide the same service with swimwear.

    Roadworks between North Cave and Market Weighton begin today - meaning the road between the two towns will be completely closed., external

    It will be shut 24 hours a day until the work is completed, which could take up to 20 weeks.

    Traffic will be diverted via the A1034 at South Cave and Sancton, and the A1079 at Market Weighton.

    East Riding Council says work will continue at weekends to get the job done as quickly as possible.

    Hull's Pearson Park is to get a £3m makeover.

    The money will be spent on improvements including restoration of the historic archway entrance, reinstating the bandstand and upgrading the bowling pavilion.

    It has been awarded under the National Lottery's Parks for People scheme.

    It's part of a five-year project to also provide educational and training opportunities for local people and increase their use of the park.

    The Humber Bridge is one of nine structures from our area being awarded listed status today.

    It's being designated Grade 1 status, 36 years to the day since it was officially opened by The Queen.

    The Tidal Barrier, Philip Larkin's former home and the statue of the first mayor of Hull -- William De Le Pole -- are among the eight other sites to be listed (below)

    • Renowned poet Philip Larkin's house (32 Pearson Park) - Grade II listed
    • Tidal Surge Barrier, Humber Street - Grade II listed
    • Western Cemetery grave of Edward Booth, railway fireman whose death spurred new train safety measures - Grade II listed
    • Homes of J Arthur Rank and Alfred Gelder, 365-371 Holderness Road - Grade II listed
    • Edwardian-style public toilets with art nouveau features, Nelson Street - Grade II listed
    • St Michael and All Angels Church, Orchard Road - Grade II listed.
