    A dry start for most across the region with a few bright and sunny spells especially along the east coast.

    Thicker cloud will build through the morning with outbreaks of rain reaching us later. Most of this rain fairly light and patchy, with a few heavier bursts especially on high ground.

    The owner of a travelling circus, which is visiting Scunthorpe, has defended the use of wild animals in performances describing them as "happy and healthy".

    It comes after one animal welfare group called on people in North Lincolnshire to boycott the circus.

    The government says it wants to see an end to the use of wild animals in travelling circus shows - but hasn't yet changed the law in England.

    Four people have been arrested and a large amount of suspected heroin and cocaine has been found in a police raid on Grimsby's East Marsh this morning.

    It comes as Humberside Police launch a purge on drugs and antisocial behaviour in the area.

    Last week we revealed how some residents around Rutland Street were living in fear.

    Residents in an east Yorkshire town say they're fed up of raw sewage leaking on to their road when it rains heavily.

    People living on an estate in Hedon say it's been happening for nearly 10 years, whenever there's heavy rainfall.

    Yorkshire Water says it's investigating the problem.

    I went to meet some of the residents and to see how bad the problem was after heavy rain earlier this week.

    The plans for a new multi-million pound mental health unit for young people in Hull have been submitted to the council.

    It was a welcome announcement for campaigners, after dozens of children had to travel large distances for specialist treatment.

    The unit will have 11 in-patient beds.

    Police have released pictures of two men they want to speak to in connection with the theft of up to £2,000 of printer cartridges from Sainsbury's in Pocklington yesterday.

    Genius Foods, which makes gluten-free food in Hull has announced its closure.

    They say the site closure will impact 68 employees. And is a result of a recent decision by customers to offer an ‘Own Label’ product consequently reducing production in Hull.

    The company say they are supporting staff to find alternative employment.

  19. Scientists from Hull research micro plastics impact on seaspublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 10 August 2017

    They've been described as one of the greatest threats to our seas, tiny fragments of pollution known as micro plastics.

    They come from things such as tyres and textiles even cosmetics and scientists from the University of Hull have been researching the damage they can cause to the environment.

    This week they've travelled to a remote island within the Arctic circle to continue their investigations.
