    An East Yorkshire music festival has been cancelled after organisers said ticket sales had been damaged by "the large number of free events in the region this year".

    The Cornucopia Festival at Burton Constable has attracted thousands of people over the last five years.

    But those running it say this year they've struggled with ticket sales.

    People who've already bought tickets for the September event will be refunded.

    East Yorkshire based telecoms provider KCOM has been fined £900,000 for failings in emergency call provision during 2015 floods.

    An investigation by Ofcom found that the company broke an important rule, designed to ensure everyone can contact the emergency services at all times.

    In the wake of Storm Eva a telephone exchange in York which was taking calls from customers in Hull, was flooded.

    This resulted in 34 different numbers failing to connect to the emergency services over a four hour period.

    According to regulations, telephone companies should ensure that emergency calls can be connected at all times, even in challenging circumstances.

    It's the summer holidays and if you have a young child or teenager at home you've probably already heard the words "I'm bored" and "there's nothing to do" more than enough times.

    But one East Yorkshire woman thinks she has found the answer!

    It's called Beverley Rocks, the idea being you paint a rock and hide it somewhere, then take a photo of it, post it on social media and challenge a friend to find it.

    An East Yorkshire man who got to the top of one the UK's highest mountains, despite having Motor Neurone Disease, will present a cheque to the charity he raised money for.

    Jason Liversidge, from Rise in East Yorkshire, completed the eight-hour journey up Snowdon in his motorised wheel chair last month.

    He's raised more than £7,500 for the Dove House hospice in Hull.

    A film which charts life along the Yorkshire coast over the past 100 years is to be shown at various venues over the next few weeks.

    The Yorkshire Film Archive will reveal the collection of coastal films that span almost every decade of the last century.

    It will be shown at the Bridlington Spotlight Theatre on 6 September and move to other venues.

    Humberside Police have been raiding properties in Hull to carry out drug offence warrants.

    It followed complaints about class A illegal drug use and suspected drug dealing.

    I joined the police on the raids earlier:

    Former drug addicts are speaking out to warn current users of the risks after a rise in the number of drug-related deaths.

    The latest figures show a rise in deaths across Hull and the north of Lincolnshire from 63 in 2015 to 82 in 2016.

    Heroin antidotes are being used to try and stop some fatalities but some new substances are just too strong.

  20. Former Hull MP dies at home in Merseysidepublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Former Labour MP Kevin McNamara, who served his constituency in Hull for nearly 40 years, has died aged 82.

    The former shadow secretary of state for Northern Ireland was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer after falling ill while on holiday in Spain.

    Mr McNamara, who represented Hull North from 1966 to 2005, had no previous symptoms and died at his home in Formby, Merseyside, his family said.

    Tributes have been paid tribute to the "widely respected" politician.
