    Campaigners who want to save a Hull landmark which was made in Stoke-on-Trent say they want people in the Potteries to lend their support.

    The Three Ships mural is on a vacant former shop. Historic England turned down Grade II listing in November.

    It was Richards Tiles in the 1960s who made the mural - the firm subsequently became part of Johnsons Tiles Ltd.

    Hull Heritage Action Group say it's part of their city's fishing heritage and want people in Stoke-on-Trent to show their support by signing their petition which calls for Historic England to reconsider their decision., external

  2. Humber Sesh could 'get even bigger'published at 15:13 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    Organisers of the Humber Street Sesh in Hull will look at expanding the festival for next year.

    The event celebrates the best in emerging talent from the region, external and beyond and is set in Hull Marina.

    Around 30,000 people attended the one-day event on Saturday and ideas are being looked at to extend it across the city or over an entire weekend.

    A Scunthorpe woman's campaign to get a life-extending drug for people with pancreatic cancer on the NHS has been successful.

    Maggie Watts lost both her husband and mother in law to the disease and has been petitioning to make Abraxane available to all in the UK, regardless of where they live.

    The drug can extend a patient's life by two months.

    Maggie Watts started an e-petition, which triggered a debate in parliament, and on Friday the National Institute of Clinical Excellence announced that advanced pancreatic cancer patients in England will be allowed access to it on the NHS.

    A Sunderland teenager has gone missing from his home in Hull.

    Daniel Osman, 14, was last seen on Thursday, 27 July, when he left the address where he has been living in Hull.

    Police believe he has returned to the Sunderland area.

  5. Ideas wanted for new country parkpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    East Riding of Yorkshire Council is asking people for their views on its plans for a new country park project.

    It says the proposals for the Humber Bridge Country Park Experience will restore heritage assets, including Whiting Mill (pictured below), and improve public access around the popular site.

  7. Girl, 12, assaulted on Grimsby pathwaypublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    A 12-year-old girl has been assaulted on a path in Grimsby on Saturday night.

    Humberside Police say the girl was walking towards Littlefield Lane in the town, when an unknown man joined the path from the field and tried to grab her around the waist.

    The girl pushed the man away and ran off. She was unhurt in the incident.

    Officers are asking for anyone with information to get in touch, external.

  8. Floating cinema arrives in Hullpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 7 August 2017

    A floating cinema has sailed in to Hull this week as part of City of Culture 2017.

    The cinema began its journey in Sheffield and has already stopped off at places including Goole and South Ferriby.

    Hull is the final stop where the cinema will spend six days at the marina.

    It'll feature films, documentaries and a newly commissioned artwork by Leeds based artist Harry Meadley.

    There's been criticism of a commemorative statue designed by an East Yorkshire artist.

    The statue, a military soldier on patrol in the jungle holding a gun, represents the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry during the Malayan war.

    It's been designed by Steve Winderburn from Burton Pidsea and is due to take pride of place in a Doncaster park next year.

    Some critics say it's too 'aggressive and violent' but the artist says the design of the statue is realistic.

    Former drug addicts have spoken out to warn users of class A substances that they're risking their lives.

    Last year saw a large increase in drug-related deaths across Hull and northern Lincolnshire, partly due to an increase in synthetic drugs.

    Authorities are using an antidote drug to try to stop addicts from dying, but there are warnings some new substances are getting stronger.

    Last week, the National Crime Agency said that at least 60 people have died in the UK in the last eight months after taking the strong painkiller Fentanyl - with the majority of those in the Yorkshire and the Humber region.

    Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is one of those paying tribute this morning to the former Hull MP Kevin McNamara who has died at the age of 82.

    Mr McNamara represented Hull North from 1966 to 2005.

    The former shadow secretary of state for Northern Ireland was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer after falling ill while on holiday in Spain.

    In a statement, his family said: "He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, following a short and unexpected illness."

    More families have come forward after Hull City Council published a report into missing ashes from premature babies.

    It's after campaigner Tina Trowhill discovered her still-born son William's ashes were scattered without her knowledge.

    The city council published a report two weeks ago, external which showed nearly 60 families had asked for more information about their babies.

    Since then, five new applications have been made, with even more families contacting the Hull Action for Ashes Campaign.
