The City Health Care Partnership (CHCP) is blaming "staffing shortages" and concerns over the ability to provide a high quality of care.

Current patients will be not be affected and will remain on the ward until they're ready to be discharged, it's been confirmed.

Andrew Burnell, CHCP chief executive, describes it as "not an ideal situation", but "patient and staff safety must come first".

Earlier this year, proposals were put forward to permanently close 12 in-patient community beds in Withernsea.

That decision is currently being looked at by the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

    Hayley Ritchie
    BBC Local Live

It's Ladies Day at Beverley Racecourse - the venue's most lucrative event of the year.

It features the usual racing on the track as well as live music, competitions and stalls around the rest of the site.

In previous years, it's come under criticism for the behaviour of some of the attendees.

Beverley Racecourse has uploaded video showing a (very) quick look around at what's going on there today:

Goole Civic Society, Goole Town Council and local businesses have teamed up with the council to put in the bid.

It aims to reduce the number of vacant town centre buildings and establish new uses for them.

The Aire Street triangle (pictured) has often been referred to as the area most in need of this type of activity.

Historic England will now assess the proposal and, if it's thought to have potential, Goole will be invited through to the next stage.

  18. Emergency fundraising appeal in Hull after killer mudslide in twin citypublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 16 August 2017

    Jo Makel

Collection buckets are to be put around Hull and an online fundraising page has been set up to help the victims of the flooding and mud slide in Hull's twin city of Sierra Leone.

The disaster is feared to have left hundreds dead.

The appeal in Hull is for cash rather than clothes or any other goods as that would take too long to send out to those affected.

Hull Minster is also planning to make a collection box available for the campaign.

  19. Future of Hull's famous Lord Line building to be discussedpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 16 August 2017

The former trawler company offices at the old St Andrews fishing dock in Hull have stood empty for a number of years and have featured on urban explorer websites.

A petition set up to save the building from being demolished has received over 1,500 signatures.

But members of the city's fishing community are split over what the site's future should be, some saying it's a symbol of the trawler owners rather than the fishermen themselves.

The meeting will take place this evening at 18:30 at the Estate of the Nation shop on Goodwin Parade on Walker Street.

  20. Mixed news from new unemployment statspublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 16 August 2017

New figures out today show that the number of jobless in the Yorkshire and Humber region has fallen.

Unemployment in the UK fell by 57,000 in the three months to June, official figures show, bringing the jobless rate down to 4.4% - its lowest since 1975.

In the Yorkshire and Humber region, 129,000 people are out of work - 5,000 fewer than the previous period.

However, the ONS statistics also show the region still has the lowest number of hours worked in the country.

The TUC say the figures mask problems in Yorkshire and the Humber, with unemployment in Hull still well above the national average.
