NHS England say they will look at reviewing the use of hand sanitiser in hospitals following the death of a Hull man.

76-year-old John Haughey drank more than 500 millilitres of the substance while in a confused state at Hull Royal Infirmary.

The hand gel contained 75% alcohol which is the equivalent of consuming a litre of gin.

The trust which runs the hospital admitted they were at fault after staff failed to act quickly enough after the incident.
