    North East Lincolnshire Council has voted in favour of introducing fortnightly bin collections.

    It's believed the changes will save the council around four hundred thousand pounds.

    People against the plans have said they're furious, with some saying they've lost confidence in the council.

    Plans for a new Go Ape activity centre in North Lincolnshire have been given the go ahead.

    Go Ape will be built at Normanby Hall.

    The tree top adventure course, with zip wires and rope swings,could create around 30 jobs at Normanby Hall Country Park next year.

    Hull FC coach Lee Radford says tomorrow's Super 8s game at Leeds doesn't allow them to fully celebrate their Challenge Cup success.

    The short turnaround between such high-profile games is for the benefit of TV.

    It's meant he's not been able to spend much time savouring the Wembley success and he thinks it would have been a better game if played at the weekend.

    A thief has broken into a bakery and stolen three charity boxes.

    The incident happened at half past midnight on Monday at Kirton Lindsey.

    The thief is about 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a black jacket and winter-style hat.

    He is thought to have smashed the shop window before stealing three charity boxes from the counter.

    Police are appealing for any witnesses.

    The strike is over dispute between the rail company and trade unions about the role of guards on trains.

    A 24-hour strike was held during the first day of the Tour de Yorkshire earlier this year.

    Northern Rail say they expect to run a significantly reduced service.

    Action's been taken to tackle drugs problems at an East Yorkshire prison, according to the Ministry of Justice.

    The response comes after an inspection of the category 'C' HMP Humber found high levels of violence, staff shortages and problems with drugs and rats.

    A new governor has been appointed since the inspection.

    People have started protesting outside the North East Lincolnshire council offices in Grimsby over planned cuts to bin and library services.

    The council wants to replace the weekly service with fortnightly refuse collections, to try and save more than £400,000.

    A decision on the future of collection services will be made later today.

  12. Force says 'spit guard' hood used just once during trial periodpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    Humberside Police has revealed officers have only used a controversial spit guard once during a three-month pilot.

    The netted hoods are placed over a person's head if they attempt to bite or spit at an officer or member of the public during incidents.

    At the time Humberside Police said they are designed to keep people safe and the Police Federation said they were essential in protecting officers.

    Critics say spit hoods are distressing and humiliating, can cause panic in the detained person and make it harder to notice if a prisoner is having difficulty breathing.

    Hull City have signed striker Nouha Dicko from Championship club Wolves for an undisclosed fee.

    The 25-year-old Mali international has signed a three-year deal.

    Dicko scored 35 goals in 108 appearances for Wolves during a loan spell and following his subsequent permanent move in January 2014.

    The number of people visiting Hull's museums and galleries has reached one million.

    The city council says it was hoping to reach that target by the end of the City of Culture year, but it's been reached four months early.

    Those involved says it's great news for the city and shows how City of Culture is attracting more people to visit.

    There's a call for dog owners to come forward to allow their pets to act as therapy animals in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

    Dogs are used in care homes

    Therapy Dogs Nationwide send dogs into places such as care homes, where they help comfort people.

    Now they need new volunteers in our area as they say there is a large waiting list of venues wanting to make use of the dogs.

    A survey released today reveals that morale remains low among staff at Humberside Police

    The Police Federation, which carried out the research, surveyed more than a quarter of the people currently employed by the force.

    The Federation said that 59% of those who responded believed decisions which affected them had not been made in a fair way and over a third said they weren't being treated fairly.

    Three quarters of those surveyed said they did not feel valued at work and their workload was too high.

    Humberside Police said since the new chief constable's arrival in May more time has been spent listening to the concerns of front line officers.

    The force is also working to create a better shift pattern.
