    A musician from Hull has been nominated by the Prime Minister to receive an award.

    Theresa May recommended Daz Sims for the "Point of Light" award to recognise the money he has raised for charity.

    Daz organises the Rock 4 Charity concerts in Hull and around the UK.

    The award is given to outstanding volunteers who are making a change in their community and inspire others.

    It will be a mostly cloudy night with a little patchy rain spreading from the west. Minimum temperatures will be around 12C (54F).

    Tomorrow will start with a dry morning with bright or sunny intervals but turning wet later in the afternoon as rain spreads from the west. Highs tomorrow of 18C (64F).

    Friday should be mostly dry with sunny spells.

    Humberside Police have tweeted that their non-emergency 101 number is not working properly at the moment.

    They stress that the emergency 999 number is unaffected but ask people to only use it if it is a genuine emergency.

    A dog owner from Bridlington's been fined £120 because he didn't update the details on his dog's microchip.

    It only costs around £16 to change the information.

    Adrian Walker from Elma Avenue had been told the details needed updating by a kennels owned by East Riding Council back in March.

    The 58-year-old was then reminded a number of times by dog wardens but failed to update the information.

    Walker admitted not keeping the microchip data up to date and has been fined at Beverley Magistrates court (pictured).

    Renowned album sleeves produced by a Hull-born photographer have gone on display in the city.

    Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells record cover was among a crop created by photographer Trevor Key.

    He also worked with artists Jamie Reid on the Sex Pistols releases and with Factory Records designer Peter Saville on New Order's sleeves including Technique and True Faith.

    A selection of Key's artwork is being shown at the Hull School of Art and Design.

    Titled Trevor Key's Top 40, the exhibition also features sleeves he designed for OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark), German bands Can and Tangerine Dream, as well as comedy duo Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's Derek and Clive act.

    A flood alert's been issued for the North Sea Coast at Bridlington, external meaning flooding is possible so people should be prepared.

    High winds and waves could lead to some spray and over-topping between 17:30 and 19:00 today and 04:00 and 08:00 tomorrow.

  11. 'Hairline crack' in tank caused acid leak at Hull dockspublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 20 September 2017

    A 30ft high cylindrical storage tank that leaked 500 metric tonnes of hydrochloric acid at King George Dock in Hull was caused by a "hairline crack", owners have said.

    United Molasses said the crack was in the tank and apologised for the incident.

    A 500-m exclusion zone, which was put in place yesterday morning, has been lifted and all the acid has been cleared from the port.

    Working closely with the relevant authorities, we acted immediately to contain the leak, which was caused by a hairline crack and alleviated by the tank's protective bund. The tank is now empty, and our focus shifts to removing final materials and ensuring investigations into the issue run smoothly.

    Associated British Ports (ABP) said a second storage tank on the same site would be emptied for "precautionary measures".

    Just six days to go until the Turner Prize exhibition opens at Hull's Ferens Art Gallery.

    The four shortlisted artists (pictured) will exhibit their work here in Hull from 26 September until December when the winner will be announced.

    The Turner Prize is renowned throughout the world and is given to an artist who's exhibited outstanding work the year before.

    The four nominees, external are Hurvin Anderson, Andrea Buttner, Lubaina Himid and Rosalind Nashashibi.

    A cyclist in Hull has been injured after he rode into a wire which was strung up across a cycle path (pictured).

    The wire was placed at head height and caused injury to his neck as he cycled along the path at around 19:30 on Monday 18 September.

    Police have confirmed they're looking at CCTV to try and find the person who put up the wire along Bankside on Monday evening and are appealing for information.

    Officers found three Sat Navs, a CD Changer and DVD player at a house in Bridlington.

    A man's now been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

    Police say they want to reunite the items with their owners.

    There's a fresh dawn over Grimsby's East Marsh as a new chief of police in northern Lincolnshire vows to take the drug dealers out.

    Over the last few months there have been a number of drugs raids in Grimsby's East Marsh, where residents have described living in fear.

    Ch Supt Christine Wilson says Humberside Police is focused on wiping-out the problem and taking apart organised crime gangs.

  19. Will Hull be base for £600m new 4X4 vehicle plant?published at 11:00 British Summer Time 20 September 2017

    Hull could be the home of a proposed new factory to build the successor to one of Britain's best-known off road vehicles.

    Chemicals firm Ineos say it's looking to build 25,000 vehicles a year from 2020, along the lines of the famed Land Rover Defender which went out of production last year.

    The last Land Rover Defender to come off the Jaguar production line.

    There's been lots of interest from potential sites across Europe to base production there, but Ineos say their preferred site is in the UK, somewhere between Hull and Scotland.

    The founder of Ineos, Jim Ratcliffe grew up in Beverley.

    The £600m project would employ 1,000 people directly and Ineos say another 10,000 jobs could be created indirectly.

    Jaguar Land Rover has also recently announced plans to build a replacement for the Defender.

    There are still plenty of taxis in Bridlington, despite the closure of the town's biggest private hire firm.

    That's according to Chris Officer, who runs one of Bridlington's remaining taxis companies.

    It follows last week's dramatic closure of the taxi firm Q-Cars after it was stripped of its operators licence last week due to safeguarding and public protection issues.

    Its sudden enforced closure has left taxi drivers relying on getting work off taxi ranks, though some have signed up with other companies.
