    Lara King
    North East Lincolnshire reporter

Grimsby's Police Station is 60 years old today.

It was built with 14 cells for men and 6 for women and all the mod cons of 1950's policing.

There were 168 sergeants and constables. Six of those were women. There were 195 special officers.

I went along to a celebration at the police station yesterday and met 86-year-old Len Rayner, one of the original serving officers.

Len told me he worked here till he retired in 1983 and says in those days, because they walked the streets, they saw much more than if they were in a car.

Humberside Fire and Rescue say it could be the early hours of the morning before a cordon is lifted and people working within that area are allowed to leave their offices.

A change in wind direction means the vapour created as the acid is decanted is now hanging over the dock area. Firefighters are using what they call a water curtain to contain the gas cloud.
