It would give the county more power over local decisions, extra money and an elected mayor.

Councillor Stephen Brady says 17 local authority leaders in the county have now backed a "One Yorkshire" proposal, including Doncaster and Barnsley, who were previously part of a separate Sheffield City Region deal.

A meeting is taking place in South Yorkshire today to discuss the options for that area, with Sheffield and Rotherham still keen on a separate deal to the rest of Yorkshire.
