    There's concern about the future of a listed council building in North Lincolnshire.

    The council are moving out of Pitwood House and hope to sell the 1960's building.

    But there are fears that it will be difficult for any developers to buy the building because of its grade two listed status.

    However leader of North Lincolnshire Council Rob Waltham is confident someone will want the building.

    Hull's biggest theatre has reopened after a £16m refurbishment, with a specially-choreographed performance by the Royal Ballet.

    The opening performance on Saturday at the Hull New Theatre, which shut last year, featured a show by Hull-born Royal Ballet director Kevin O'Hare.

    Other world-renowned dancers from Hull who danced in Opening the New included Xander Parish and his sister Demelza.

    Xander originally trained at Hull's Skelton Hooper School of Dance.

    He became the first Briton to be a principal dancer at Russia's Mariinsky Ballet.

  4. Man arrested over Queen's Gardens Assaultpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    A 20-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of the assault of a 25 year-old Hull man who was attacked in Queen Gardens in Hull at around 01:00 on Sunday.

    The victim was found with head injuries and taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.

    He is now recovering at home.

  5. East Riding Theatre announces new playpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 18 September 2017

    East Riding Theatre has announced they will stage a production of Hull playwright Richard Bean's 'Kiss Me' at the beginning of October.

    It's the first time the play has been shown outside of London.

    The play is described as beautiful and unorthodox love story about two people struggling to escape the guilt and ghosts of the past.

    The company which manages the KCom stadium has responded to claims that the pitch wasn't sufficiently prepared for Hull City's match against Sunderland at the weekend.

    It's been alleged that there were no penalty spots marked in either of the boxes.

    Management company SMC says that the way that the penalty spots are now marked involves a hollow circle rather than the traditional large white spot.

    They say this is to reduce the amount of paint on the pitch which damages the grass.

    They go on to say that they're disappointed that people have chosen to question the work standards of staff without being properly informed of the situation.

    A 25-year-old man was left with head injuries following a serious assault in Hull on Sunday morning.

    The incident happened at Queens Gardens in Hull at around 01:00 on Sunday.

    It was two hours before he was found unconscious.

    He was taken to Hull Royal infirmary and is now recovering at home.

    A black apple Iphone 7, house keys, wallet and lighter was stolen in the incident.

    Police are appealing for witnesses.

    A popular cycling cafe in Beverley faces a more secure future after planners today recommended it should be granted a permanent licence.

    Cafe Velo had applied for a permanent licence, but it was initially recommended for refusal, following concerns from a couple of local residents.

    A campaign was launched by cyclists and people living locally. The council received more than 100 letters in support of the cafe.

    Planning documents out today reveal that the cafe's licence has been recommended for approval, with a final decision being made by a committee next week.

    Council leaders in Hull say they're very confident a £55m cruise terminal in the city will become a reality.

    Following on from its success as the UK City of Culture, councillors say Hull is back on the map.

    Hopes are now high the government will back the development.

    There's been a 10% rise in visitor numbers to Cleethorpes this summer compared to last year.

    That's what the leader of North East Lincolnshire Council has told us.

    It comes as businesses in the resort say they've seen an increase in trade too.

    There were originally fears that tourism numbers could be hit because of the closure of the Pleasure Island Theme Park.

    A man who took to the roof of a house in a bid to escape police arrest has admitted a number of offences.

    Kyle Ferguson, 23, of Salisbury Close, Scunthorpe, was wanted by Humberside Police and was detained after a rooftop stand-off near his home last month.

    At Grimsby Crown Court today he pleaded guilty to various charges including three counts of affray, one count of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment and another of having a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place.

    Ferguson has been remanded in custody until 29 September when he is due to be sentenced at the same court.

    A woman from Hull who was known as the Queen of the Tea Towel has died at the age of 87.

    Pat Albeck became famous for her textile designs and had a long association with the department store John Lewis and the National Trust.

    Someone will be killed if nothing's done soon to make a main route into Hull safer, says a Hull councillor.

    Councillor Sean Chaytor wants to see speed cameras installed on Hedon Road.

    The 40mph stretch, which has multiple roundabouts, links the city centre to the Holderness plain and has been the site of numerous crashes in recent years.

    Mercury Music Prize winning band Badly Drawn Boy and an award winning hip hop theatre show have been added to Hull's "Back to Ours" festival line up this autumn.

    The festival was designed to take City of Culture shows to different parts of the Hull.

    Venues include the North Point Shopping Centre and Archbishop Sentamu Academy.

    The shows take place at the end of October and the start of November.

    Union leaders say Hull City Council staff could take strike action after the authority cancelled free car parking passes.

    BBC Radio Humberside has been told the passes, which expire at the end of the month, are essential for staff that need to travel around the area.

    But the council says drivers will be given 65p per mile and it's also introducing a pool car scheme.

    Nikki Osborne of the union Unison says it's inadequate.
