A government report on the cyber attacks which hit hospitals in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire earlier this year has found it could have been prevented if up-to-date IT security measures had been put in place.
More than a third of trusts across the country were affected by the ransomware in May, according to the National Audit Office (NAO).
It was the second cyber attack in a few months for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, which was also affected in November 2016.
The report says NHS trusts were left vulnerable because cyber-security recommendations were not followed.
