The odd wintry shower may continue on western hills overnight, but most of the region will be dry with clear spells, leading to a widespread frost again by morning.

  3. 'Time needed' to consider fate of Minor Injuries Unitspublished at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

    Vicky Johnson

East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has now given its response to the decision by the government not to review proposed changes to Minor Injuries Units in the region.

    Hornsea Cottage Hospital

In March, the CCG announced it would shut the unit at Hornsea Cottage Hospital and downgrade the units at Driffield and Withernsea.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt referred the proposals to an independent panel of experts which has now said that a full review would not "add any value".

In a statement, Jane Hawkard, the CCG's chief officer, says it will take time before a final decision on the future of the units is made:

    Quote Message

We are grateful for the consideration of the Panel and of the Secretary of State and as you would expect we need to take time to fully consider the report carefully. We will be discussing with the local councillors on the Health, Care and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Committee in due course."

Jane Hawkard, Chief Officer, East Riding CCG

    Leanne Brown
    Journalist, BBC Look North

East Yorkshire politicians say they're concerned and dismayed by a decision to rubber stamp the closure of minor injuries units in the county.

The government confirmed yesterday it won't stand in the way of health officials who want to close or downgrade some of the units in East Yorkshire.

Beverley MP Graham Stuart and Councillor Lyn Healing were in Withernsea to talk to GPs about the changes and had this to say:

    Twins Keira and Casey

Keira and Casey were born at 26 weeks and it was unclear whether they would survive.

Both developed life-threatening complications, meaning they spent weeks in hospital.

More than a year on, the only visible signs of their illnesses are their feeding tubes, which they have in permanently.

But that's attracts unwanted attention from passers-by, which has left Leanne feeling isolated:

    Quote Message

We generally don't go out at all, because we get a lot of stares and we get some horrible comments as well. I have heard someone say, 'I bet that baby's dying or something.' The things some people come out with are shocking."
