    Brexit could have an impact on Hull's annual Freedom Festival, that's according to the executive director.

    This year saw 200 performances involving artists from over 25 countries.

    Jenny Howard-Coombes, the Executive Director of Freedom Festival, says EU grants could be lost and they could struggle to get performers from other countries.

    A nurse from East Yorkshire denied a drug she believes will help treat her cancer has been given a ray of hope by the Prime Minister.

    Hayley Crawley says immunotherapy will extend her life, and says any extra day she can spend with her husband and son would be precious to her.

    But it's not available on the NHS to treat her type of cancer, meaning she's having to raise the quarter of a million pounds it costs.

    Today in Parliament Theresa May promised her case would be looked at closely.

    Hull North MP Diana Johnson has criticised the budget, calling it a "blank page in history for Hull".

    Chancellor Philip Hammond has made a number of announcements in today's budget, including abolishing Stamp Duty immediately for first-time buyers purchasing properties worth up to £300,000.

    But Diana Johnson has criticised the government for not bringing forward an order for new Red Arrows Hawk Jets which she believes, will help protect jobs at BAE Brough.

    A flood alert is in place for the North Sea, external coast at Bridlington.

    The flood warning is for all high tides.

    Unsettled weather is leading to wave over-topping and spray being forecast at Bridlington South Pier.

    The next alert is for this afternoon between 16:30 to 21:15.

    The Environment Agency says they're continuing to monitor the situation and update this alert with the latest forecast information.

    A kitchen manufacturing firm has been fined £1.2m after a delivery driver was crushed to death at a depot.

    Richard Brown, 48, from Hull, died when a fork-lift truck unloading two pallets of kitchen worktops "overbalanced" at Howden Joinery's Workington site on 10 November 2014.

    The falling load weighed 2,160kg and crushed him against his lorry.

    The firm was fined at Carlisle Crown Court after admitting health and safety breaches.

    Howden Joinery - which is said to have a £1.2bn annual turnover, 600 UK depots and 7,500 staff - was also ordered to pay £33,902 costs.

    A demonstration has taken place outside County Hall in Beverley.

    Officials are proposing a number of changes at the council's 51 sheltered housing schemes, including replacing the on-site wardens with on-call responders.

    The council leader Stephen Parnaby is to be quizzed about the plans by residents and their representatives shortly.

    Grimsby Town player Siriki Dembele has won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for October after a string of impressive performances led to the Mariners having an unbeaten month in Sky Bet League Two.

    The 21-year old scored three goals in five games, including a first-half brace to secure the three points for his side at Whaddon Road against Cheltenham Town.

    Born in the Ivory Coast, Dembele moved to the United Kingdom with his family in search of an opportunity within professional football.

    After a short spell at Dundee United’s youth team he joined the Nike Academy before signing for Grimsby Town, external in the summer.

    The owners of big Victorian properties near Bridlington Harbour could be banned from painting them in bright colours.

    Officials at East Riding of Yorkshire Council say the elegance of the properties on Cliff Street, the Crescent and Marlborough Terrace is being undermined because some owners are removing original features like walls and gates and painting the properties in gaudy shades.

    Owners may have to choose from an approved list of paint colours in future.

    Bridlington Civic Society has welcomed the council's proposal.

    A new tool to combat anti-social behaviour is being used in Hessle.

    The Town Council has installed a CCTV camera with a speaker at the King George V playing fields.

    There have been problems in the area, so PCSOs can now speak to people directly through the speaker to warn them they are being watched.

    Hilderthorpe Primary school in Bridlington has been closed for the day due to an outbreak of the vomiting bug Norovirus.

    Forty-three children and a number of staff at the school have developed symptoms.

    The school has been closed for the day while the premises are deep-cleaned.

    East Riding Public Health say its spread can be reduced by regular thorough handwashing.

    They say children with the vomiting bug should be kept away from school for two or three days and should not be taken to doctors surgeries.

    The school will re-open tomorrow morning.

    There are concerns today that cuts to sexual health and education provision in Hull could lead to a rise in sexually transmitted diseases.

    The charity Corner House which offers advice to adults and young people has recently been told the council wants to end the service it offers from 2018.

    Documents from Hull City Council suggest that the work could be taken on by other agencies, such as schools and public health teams.

    Councillor Steve Wilson, who is on the Corner House organisation's board,says the news has had a big impact on staff.

    Humberside Police, external have said that a police car was rammed during the attempted theft of an ATM machine in Pocklington this morning.

    Police officers were called just after 03:30 to an incident at the HSBC on Market Place.

    A JCB teleporter vehicle was used to steal the ATM, which was loaded onto the back of a green and white Ford Transit flatbed van.

    The van and the damaged cash machine were later found near to a roundabout near Pocklington industrial estate. The JCB was left at the scene.

    Two white estate cars were also used in the theft. One was thought to be an Audi.

    A police car was rammed by one of the cars as the suspects fled.

    The Yorkshire Ambulance service, external has confirmed the sacking of a paramedic for failing to revive a dying patient.

    David Prideaux, who was then based at Hull East Ambulance station failed to take a defibrillator to the man who suffered a cardiac arrest and then died at the scene, a health panel found.

    The Health and Care Professions Council said, external an undisclosed health condition prevented him carrying equipment and meant he was unfit for duty.

    The Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedic attended a 999 call to the patient's home on 25 January 2016.
