A similar scheme was set up in Portsmouth and the bus was revamped by The Rucksack Project for homeless people.

It has 12 beds upstairs, a kitchen and toilet facilities downstairs.

It's going to take a lot of organisation from a lot of people, like the local authority and some of the churches to find out where it could be placed. There's also a lot of work to do in converting it. Anything which can be done to get some of the rough sleepers off the streets is a good thing.

  17. Hull MP criticises Gipsy Moth decisionpublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2017

    Tim Iredale
Political editor, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

The Government's come under fire in the Commons over its decision to move a replica of Amy Johnson's Gipsy Moth biplane out of Hull.

    Gipsy Moth

The model was built by inmates at Hull Prison for the City of Culture celebrations and has been hanging at the Paragon Train Station for much of the year.

The Ministry of Justice has decided to move it to the air museum at York, saying it hasn't found a suitable location in East Yorkshire.

The Labour MP for Hull North, Diana Johnson, told the Commons there's been no consultation over the move.

    Quote Message

Why have the Ministry of Justice decided that the plane, which means so much to the city, is going to be moved to York without asking the artist or key players in Hull about its future?

  20. HMP Humber 'vulnerable' to drugs coming inpublished at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2017

    Matthew Bone
    Video Journalist, BBC Look North

Some areas of HMP Humber are vulnerable to drugs being thrown over the prison walls or delivered by drones says an independent report which looked in to the state of the prison.

prisons vulnerable to drugsImage source, PA

Figures obtained by BBC Radio Humberside have found that 21kg of drugs have been found at HMP Humber in the last 18 months.

Around 16kg of drugs found were conventional narcotics like cannabis, cocaine and heroin. Around 5kg were 'psychoactive substances' like Spice.

The Penal Reform Trust say that, because of the type of prison HMP Humber is, prisoners stay for longer and have more time to establish a system of getting drugs into the prison.

The independent report earlier this year said around 85% of inmates had admitted to taking illegal drugs while in prison.

Those in charge say they're introducing more measures to tackle drugs coming into the prison like introducing more CCTV and better fencing.
