    Parents claim many children with Down's Syndrome in Hull and East Yorkshire are being let down by health professionals.

    Those with the condition can face a variety of issues - including heart defects and thyroid problems. At present check-ups are inconsistent and many face long waits to be seen.

    Now, after years of campaigning, health bosses in Hull have agreed to create a better, more coordinated service.

    Grimsby MP Melanie Onn has called on the government to put its money where its mouth is, in order to help improve the local economy.

    North East Lincolnshire Council has plans to help create thousands of new jobs and homes as part of the Greater Grimsby town deal.

    The government says it supports the scheme, as part of their industrial strategy, but the Great Grimsby MP has called on them to get fully behind the plans.

    Hopes that the direct rail link between Hull and York could be re-opened have been given a boost by the Transport Secretary Chris Grayling.

    He's announced he wants to identify rail links that would boost the economy and house building if they were re-built.

    Some people living in South Ferriby in North Lincolnshire are criticising the steps the Environment Agency's taking to protect the village from flooding.

    It's currently installing concrete blocks to form a barrier to reduce the risks caused by erosion.

    But critics say the measures are unsightly and causing disruption.

    The village was badly hit in the tidal surge in 2013.

    Lloyds Banking Group is to close 49 branches, including six in Yorkshire, and is to axe almost 100 jobs in a move unions have branded as "unnecessary".

    Branches under the Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Lloyds brands will be affected, resulting in 99 job losses across the UK.

    The Halifax Bank in Guiseley, Leeds, is to close as well as branches of Lloyds Bank in Ripon in North Yorkshire, Pocklington and Hornsea in East Yorkshire and Broomhill in Sheffield.

    The lender said the group was embarking on the closure programme partly in response to changing customer behaviour and the declining number of transactions being made in branches.

    But the Unite union said the move undermined growth and would leave more communities without access to "valued local banking".

    Two men from East yorkshire cleared of weapons charges in India have thanked people for their support while they were in prison.

    From the freedom of their hotel in India today the 'Chennai Six' issued this joint statement on behalf of themselves and their families.

    Ray Tindall who's originally from Hull and Paul Towers from Pocklington were released from jail in Chennai yesterday, four years after being arrested while working as private security on a ship.

    There's concern in Hull over the future of a weight loss service which is currently provided by a private company, but paid for by the council.

    The authority says ending that contract could help make savings after the government cut their public health grant by £1.3m.

    Officials say the possible re-organisation of public health services are only proposals and they are considering using the budget differently in order to deliver more services in-house.

    Bosses at BAE Systems have told MPs they are hopeful the company's factory in Brough will play a future role in manufacturing Hawk jets for the Red Arrows.

    The company announced last month it was planning to shed 400 jobs at the plant in East Yorkshire.

    The government says the Red Arrows fleet is not due to be replaced until 2030.

    Hull's food bank, external is appealing for more donations as Christmas approaches.
