Hull City councillor Steven Bayes has gone on trial accused of downloading indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography.
In August 2016 police officers took a laptop computer from his home in Hull.
The prosecution says nine indecent images and six indecent videos of children were found.
There were also 27 images of extreme pornography.
Hull Crown Court heard that in a police interview, Mr Bayes denied sexual interest in children and said other people had access to the laptop.
Mr Bayes said the laptop was not password protected and that his bank accounts had been hacked, suggesting his computer had been compromised.
Mr Bayes, from Prospect Street, Hull, denies all three charges against him and the case continues.
Plans to increase the amount people pay towards policing in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire have been given the go-ahead.
The Humberside Police and Crime Panel voted in favour of increasing the amount paid through the council tax policing precept by 6.4%.
The proposals had been put forward by Police and Crime commissioner Keith Hunter, who says the extra money would be used to pay for more officers.
Mr Hunter says the proposals mean that a typical Band D property would pay an extra 23p a week.
Quote MessageThe reality is we have been put in this position by the government and every community I speak to says they want more police officers. Therefore, this was the only way it could be delivered, so I’m not happy at increasing taxes but I’m content that I will be doing what communities want me to do"
Keith Hunter, Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner
Hull City vice-chairman Ehab Allam says he will do "whatever the fans want" in the club's rebranding, with some conditions.

Plans to build a new Sikh temple in Hull have been given the go-ahead.
It will be built on Bedford Street in East Hull to accommodate the growing Sikh community in the city.
Dilbag Singh is the Chairman of the Hull Sikh Community, says they've outgrown their current temple.
Quote MessageOur first Temple was about 23 years ago. At that time the size of the community was about half of what it is today. It's now too small. Even with the car park, we only have two car parking spaces at the moment"

Hull City Council is to meet artists today over plans to turn a part of Hull into an area for street art.
It's after the famous street artist Banksy created a mural on a disused bridge on Scott Street.
Since the mural was created dozens of people have visited the site.
Hull graffiti artist Ollie Marshall wants the surrounding area to become "a creative art space" with designated legal walls to allow artists to paint murals.
An e-fit has been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with a robbery on Goddard Avenue in Hull at 21.30 on Friday, 8 December.
The victim, walking with his friend, was approached by two men who took his money. He was also assaulted.
Humberside Police say they've issued the e-fit to see if anyone recognises him.

Hull Trains Managing Director Will Dunnett says he wants to personally apologise for the disruption customers have faced today due to a series of train cancellations and delays.
Over half of the services due to run today between Hull and London Kings Cross have been cancelled or delayed.
In a statement Will Dunnett says that at a time when the company prides itself on customer service it is disappointed that it has let customers down.
Quote MessageI wanted to personally apologise to our customers for the delays and cancellations to their services today. We’ve experienced two isolated and unrelated faults to two of our trains which our engineers have been working on overnight and today. We expect service to be resumed imminently."

A Cleethorpes pub has been told it must serve drinks only in plastic glasses at weekends if it wants to keep its licence.
The Studio bar wants to vary its licence but Humberside police has objected to the proposals.
It comes after the death of Michael Hawkins, who suffered serious head injuries while outside the bar last September.
PC Keith Lambplough works in Hull and says the take-up of plastic glasses in the city has had a big impact:
Quote MessageQuite a lot of the injuries we see are aimed at the face area. Quite often a lot of people's hands are cut where they've tried to defend themselves Thankfully that is much rarer now with the use of poly-carbonate glasses."
A new farmers' market is soon going to start up in Hull.
Just this week the Humber Bridge Board announced its looking for a new operator to run its monthly market after the current team pulled out.
The monthly event will be held in Trinity Square from April and is being run by Hull BID.
Marketing and Events coordinator Catherine Goble hopes it will bring an economic boost to other parts of the city centre too.
Quote MessageBy April the weather should be better and we will have all our permissions. We are looking for 30 to 40 stalls coming in."
Catherine Goble, Hull BID
It's being claimed two thirds of employers in Yorkshire and the Humber are deliberately excluding younger people when advertising for certain roles.
Lawyers Slater and Gordon commissioned the research which looks into the methods bosses use to recruit new staff.
They say the research found that 60% deliberately excluded younger people when advertising certain roles and that almost a fifth (18%) of bosses admit to unlawfully discriminating when recruiting; specifically women and the over 50s.
The company says the research shows that some employers think it's fine to target specific demographics when advertising for a job.
Quote MessageA lot of employers admit to unlawfully targeting their job ads at certain groups of individuals, when they're advertising online. This targeted advertising stops certain groups of job seekers from seeing those adverts."
