    People living in Grimsby are being asked to share their concerns with local police officers.

    There's been a sharp fall in the number of people applying to train as teachers.

    There were just over 1,500 applicants from Yorkshire by mid-January, down by almost a third on last year's figures of 2,300.

    The National Education Union has said the government needs to acknowledge there's a recruitment crisis.

    A broken down train means a number of Hull Trains services between Hull and London Kings Cross have been cancelled today.

    At Hull Paragon station this morning, staff were letting passengers know and offering alternative routes.

    Hull Trains has apologised for the disruption and staff are urging passengers to check the firm's website, external for updates.

  6. Broken down train sparks Hull-London cancellationspublished at 08:00 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2018

    Hull Trains have today announced eight cancellations and two changes to their services between Hull and London Kings Cross.

    They include the 08:23 Hull to London Kings Cross and the 10:30 Hull to London Kings Cross.

    All the cancellations are due to a broken down train.

  8. Woman attacked by boys with craft knife in Hullpublished at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    A woman from Hull has told the BBC that she's been having panic attacks after being attacked with a knife in the north of the city.

    Kayleigh says the incident happened as she walked home on Sunday evening around 22.30.

    Her revelation comes after Hull North MP Diana Johnson claimed anti social behaviour was fast becoming the biggest issue in her constituency.

    Humberside Police say officers are investigating reports of a robbery and assault after a 31-year-old woman was approached by two young men on 8th Avenue.

    Hull KR back-rower Danny Addy is likely to miss the entire Super League season after having surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

    Addy suffered the injury in Rovers' pre-season game against Hull FC on 14 January.

    The 27-year-old joined Hull KR from Bradford Bulls in October 2016, helping them win promotion to Super League.

    Addy is a Scotland international who featured in all three of their games at the 2017 World Cup.

    New figures show more than £20m of National Lottery funding was invested in Hull in 2017.

    In total the city was awarded 73 grants last year for community, arts, sports and heritage projects.

    Any organisation that's been given lottery funding can apply to enter the 2018 National Lottery Awards.

    Successful bids could could get £5,000.

    The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has said they support plans by Highways England to ban cyclists on a stretch of the A63 which has been used by cyclists competing in time trials.

    British Cycling and Welcome to Yorkshire have issued a joint statement saying they're seriously concerned that the proposals to ban cyclists will damage the reputation of cycling for the county.

    The road forms part of the v718 time trial course, a 10-mile route seen as one of the fastest in the country, which Sir Bradley Wiggins has raced along.

    The East Riding of Yorkshire Council says it supports more cycling and more safety and the A63 is not a recommended route for cyclists to use.

    British Cycling and Welcome to Yorkshire says it's "deeply concerned" about plans to ban cyclists from using the A63 in East Yorkshire.

    Highways England has applied for a Traffic Regulation Order to stop cyclists using the A63 between Hull and North Cave over safety concerns.

    The road forms part of the v718 time trial course, a 10-mile route seen as one of the fastest in the country.

    In a joint statement Welcome to Yorkshire and British Cycling says any kind of ban could have a negative impact on encouraging more people to take-up cycling.

    Hull Trains have tweeted that their 17:10 train from Hull to London King's Cross has been cancelled due to a fault on the train.

    It marks a day of disruption for passengers using Hull Trains.

    The 13:48 train from King's Cross to Hull and the 15:12 train from Hull to London have both been cancelled because of faults on the train.

    A set of giant postcards showing Withernsea during in the first half of the last century has proved a hit with visitors and locals alike.

    The 2.5m X 1.5m black and white pictures surround the site of the former Teddy's nightclub, which was burned down in an arson attack.

    The project was funded through the National Lottery's Big Local fund.

    Local historian Torkel Larsen sourced the original postcards used for the display and says more interesting projects will soon take shape in Withernsea.

    A teenager from East Yorkshire who had a stroke aged 17 is now hoping to help other people with brain injuries.

    Izzy Hirst had the seizure two months ago as a result of undiagnosed Colitis, which left her paralysed on one side.

  19. Hull MP to meet minister over scrapping of pain therapypublished at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    Hull West and Hessle MP Emma Hardy has secured a meeting with a government minister to discuss Pain Infusion Therapy which is coming to an end in East Yorkshire.

    86 patients in the area have been told this particular treatment will end with both Hull and East Riding Clinical Commissioning Groups saying there's no evidence to support its use.

    Emma Hardy says she'll show Health Minister Steve Brine a letter from one of the patient's consultants, warning that the withdrawal of this treatment could lead to an increased risk of mortality.

  20. Can you help 'make' the Tour de Yorkshire?published at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    The organisers of the Tour de Yorkshire are looking for 1,800 people they're calling "Tour Makers" to help with running the race.

    The event is expanding for 2018, so a record number of volunteers are needed.

    Organisers say they "provide a warm welcome" to spectators, and also "offer a point of contact for people wanting logistical information".

    If you want to get involved, you need to register your interest before 23 February.

    Details will then be provided of five training sessions being held across the county.

    The Tour takes place from 3 May through to 6 May.
