    Last night saw 300 people use glow sticks to light up the Humber Bridge.

    Hull Trains has had an electrical fault on one of its trains this morning which caused smoke to be seen from one of the carriages.

    The train, travelling from Hull to London, had to stop on the main line between Grantham and Peterborough.

    Passengers will face disruption today but the company says it hopes to have the train fixed by tomorrow.

    Travellers spent five hours stuck on a train in December last year after what was described as a catastrophic failure of an engine.

    The Tour de Yorkshire is now just a few months away and organisers say they need more volunteers than ever to help make the event run smoothly.

    This year the Yorkshire-wide cycle race is has been expanded from three stages to four and they now need 1,800 people to help out.

    Organisers call them "Tour Makers" and are deployed along the race route to provide a "warm welcome" to millions of spectators who come to watch the action.

    A 'Good Samaritan' has had his wallet stolen after he let a man into his home, who claimed to be cold and homeless.

    The incident happened at a house in Finkle Lane in Barton Upon Humber on Monday morning.

    When the occupant of the house returned from putting the kettle on, he realised his wallet was missing and challenged the visitor, who then ran from the house.

    The suspect is described as being in his 30s, slim build, with a shaved head and unshaven face. He wore green combat trousers.

    Plans for a new park in Bridlington will go on show to the public later.

    The Gypsey Race Park is part of the regeneration plans for the resort and it's designed to act as a green corridor running through the centre of the town.

    There will be play areas to encourage children to adopt active lifestyles as well as wildlife-friendly features.

    The exhibition is on at the Spa this afternoon from 13:30 to 17:30.

  7. Man charged over Hull teenager attackpublished at 10:47 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    A 39-year-old Hull man has been charged in connection with an assault on a 15 year-old-girl at the weekend.

    The attack happened as the girl was walking along Anlaby Road at about 21:30 on Saturday.

    A man approached her and demanded her phone before punching her in the face causing bruising and swelling to her face. She was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment.

    Barry Oxendale, 39, of Beckhole Close, in Hull, appeared before Hull Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with possession of a knife and robbery.

    He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Hull Crown Court via video link on Friday.

    People living in Barton-upon-Humber say they're concerned at the number of potholes in the town.

    It's after resurfacing work in the town over the winter which appears to have become damaged already.

    Local resident Lee Beel has taken to Facebook to vent his frustration about the condition of various roads, including Pasture Road, Falkland Way and Eastfield Road.

    Mr Beel says signs and traffic cones in the middle of the roads have been making driving conditions even more difficult.

    The role of Hull's first woman GP in helping to win women the right to vote is being remembered in the city today.

    Dr Mary Murdoch campaigned to improve the health of women and children during her years as a practitioner in the city.

    But it was her role as a suffragist which it's said was just as influential in helping women get the vote in February 1918.

    Today marks exactly 100 years since the Representation of the People Act was passed, giving women over 30 and "of property" the vote.

  10. 114-year-old carousel goes under hammer in Cleethorpespublished at 09:19 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    The remaining rides from Cleethorpes' landmark Pleasure Island theme park are to be auctioned off.

    The park closed at the end of 2016.

    People will be able to bid for the items, including a 114-year-old carousel, at a two-day auction event next month.

  11. Reassurances given over East Coast Main Linepublished at 08:54 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2018

    Rail passengers are being reassured that services on the East Coast Main Line running through Yorkshire and Lincolnshire will continue as normal, after it was announced that Stagecoach's contract will end earlier than expected.

    Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said Stagecoach would continue running the London to Edinburgh line only for "a small number of months and no more".

    He said the government may step in to run the service and added that the day-to-day operation of the line would be unaffected.

    Stagecoach owns 90% of the joint venture and Virgin owns the remaining 10%.

    In November, the Department for Transport said Stagecoach and Virgin would withdraw from running the service three years early, in 2020, after running into difficulties.

    A Met Office weather warning's been issued for snow and ice in Yorkshire today, external.

    A spell of sleet and snow will continue to move southeast across the UK and the warning will remain in force until 15:00.

    People are being told to expect some delays to travel, while untreated surfaces could become icy leading to an increased risk of accidents or injuries.

  14. Grimsby MP calls for improvement in hospital referralspublished at 08:00

    Great Grimsby's MP is expected to ask a question in Parliament later about the time it takes between referrals and treatment for patients at hospitals in northern Lincolnshire.

  17. 'Headscarf Heroes' documentary on tvpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2018

    A documentary which marks the 50th anniversary of the triple trawler tragedy during January and February of 1968, in which 58 men died will be shown on BBC Four tonight.

    The film tells the story of the Hull fishermen who did the most dangerous job in Britain and their wives whose protest ensured such a disaster never happened again.

    The women's campaign was one of the biggest and most successful civil action campaigns of the 20th century.

    Combining rare archive and emotional testimony, including that of Yvonne Blenkinsop, the last surviving leader of the women, those who lived through the tragedy and fought for change tell their incredible stories for the first time.

    An appeal has been launched to try to find 41-year-old Neale Chapman who's gone missing from his home in Immingham.

    He hasn't been seen since the 9 January, but was only reported missing on the 26 January.

    He's known to frequently visit the Freeman Street area of Grimsby.

    He is 6ft tall, slim with dark brown hair and missing a middle finger on one of his hands.

    Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 146 of 26/01/18.

    Former Hull City coach Marco Silva's among the bookies' favourite for the Leeds United manager's job.

    He led Hull to six wins from his 18 Premier League games, but couldn't stop the Tigers from being relegated last year and resigned a few weeks later.

    He went on to manage Watford but was sacked from his position in January.

    Yesterday Leeds sacked their manager Thomas Christiansen after only eight months in charge.
