    Concerns are growing for a man from Hull with Aspergers who hasn't been seen since last week.

    John Jeffries, 39, left his home on Holderness Road last Thursday to head to an HSBC cash machine near Morrisons supermarket.

    Police say he then had a conversation with his mother later in the day when he "sounded as if he'd been drinking" and told her that he was going to a party.

    Officers say say his disappearance is out of character.

    Mr Jeffries is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, ifaverage build with short, mousey shoulder length hair.

  2. Man seriously hurt in Mablethorpe gang attackpublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 4 June 2018

    A man's been left seriously hurt after being attacked by six youths in Mablethorpe in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    The man, who's in his 30s, was assaulted in an alleyway in the Victoria and Admiralty Road area at about 01:00 yesterday.

    He was taken to Grimsby Hospital with a serious head injury and the police are treating it as grievous bodily harm.

    Anyone who was in the area or has any information is being asked to contact Lincolnshire Police.

    A group of MPs is to investigate the disruption on Northern rail services caused by the new timetables.

    There've been hundreds of delays and cancellations over the last two weeks.

    Northern is running an emergency timetable from today to try to stabilise services.

    The Transport Select Committee will review the situation and says it could lead to a full inquiry.

    Lincolnshire is where people are most proud to say they are English, according to a BBC poll.

    In the survey, 70% of people in North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire said they were proud to be English.

    The poll, for the BBC's The English Question project, was conducted by YouGov and surveyed 20,081 people.

    It also found eight out of 10 people in England identify strongly as English, but pride varies by age.

    Hull and the Humber region must be at the heart of the so-called Northern Powerhouse project if it's to succeed, according to former chancellor George Osborne.

    His comments come as Humber Business Week, external gets under way today.

    Mr Osborne has contributed to a 16-page supplement in today's edition of The Times, which is designed to attract investment to the area.

  6. Man charged with attempted murder after Grimsby stabbingpublished at 08:56 British Summer Time 4 June 2018

    A man's been charged with attempted murder after a suspected stabbing in a supermarket car park in Grimsby.

    Humberside Police say the incident happened on Friday night.

    Andrew Mayes, 36, of no fixed address, is also charged with possession of a knife in a public place, police say.

    He is due to appear before Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates' Court later.

    The Archbishop of York is visiting primary schools in East Yorkshire today as part of his mission.

    Dr John Sentam's visit comes after he had to cancel a trip in March due to bad weather.

    Dr Sentamu will speak to pupils at schools in Wetwang, Sledmere and Driffield as part of his Harthill Deanery Mission, external.
