    People in Scarborough have been reacting to the news international pop star, Britney Spears, is to hit the stage at the town's Open Air Theatre this summer.

    The Baby One More Time singer yesterday announced plans she's heading to the Yorkshire seaside town in August.

    These people say they're surprised and excited - with some hoping to catch a glimpse of her walking along the front:

    Britney's one of the most successful entertainers in pop history, with nearly 100 million records sold worldwide.

    She became a household name as a teenager when she released her first single Baby One More Time.

    Tickets for the Las Vegas to Scarbados tour go on sale this Saturday.

    A mother and two children have been rescued from a fire at a house in Leeds.

    Firefighters pulled them from an upstairs back bedroom of the three-storey home on Hill Top Mount in Chapeltown.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said all three were "conscious and breathing" as they were taken to hospital by paramedics.

    The blaze involved 75% of the house, the fire service said, and started before 02:15 this morning.

    It's not yet known where the fire started, or what caused it, but a fire investigator is at the scene.

    Young pupils at a York school have been sent sexually explicit images via social media, sparking a warning to hundreds of parents.

    The images were described as "explicit and inappropriate" and have led to schools contacting hundreds of parents, warning them to check that their children's mobiles have the maximum security settings.

    An unnamed York school says in a letter to parents, which other primary schools have also distributed, that some "incredibly brave children" told them the images had been sent to their instagram account.

    Police say numerous incidents have been reported to them and are urging parents and guardians to check their children's devices.

    A think tank claims the north is lagging behind when it comes to planned Government spending on public transport.

    The Institute for Public Policy Research North says more than £4,000 will be spent in London per person, compared with just £1,600 in our region.

    The organisation said the disparity "should be a significant concern," but the government called the findings "completely misleading."

    George Ezra is to play in Dalby Forest, near Pickering this June, it has been announced this afternoon.

    The singer has added an extra date as part of Forest Live, which is a summer concert series organised by the Forestry Commission.

    Ezra is one of the biggest selling male artists this decade and is set to release his second album in March - his debut album went 4 x platinum in the UK.

    Forest Live is managed by the Forestry Commission and some profits from tickets sales go back into the maintenance of the woodlands.

    The new owners of Leeds Bradford Airport say they want to attract new airlines by focusing on business travellers.

    AMP Capital - who took over last year - are aiming to get seven million passengers through the airport by 2030.

    Currently around three million travel from LBA.

    It's hoped new routes to Paris and Frankfurt could be added soon.

    A new race is to take place in Rotherham town centre this Spring.

    It's a 10k run and it'll start and end at Clifton Park.

    The man behind the idea is Ray Matthews who ran 75 marathons in 75 days at the age of 75.

    Why not open a market stall in Thirsk!

    Hambleton District Council - which runs the normal weekly markets in the town - has changed the Saturday market to an "Open Market".

    It means that anyone can have a go at running a market stall even if they've never done it before.

    In an attempt to entice more people to trade there, fees are now £8.50 for regular traders and £15 for casual traders until the end of February.

    And just remember, M&S started on a market stall in Leeds - who knows what you could do!

    Police in Scarborough have arrested three men after a man was found with stab wounds this morning.

    The 28-year-old man was found at about 11:15 on Valley Road and was taken to hospital for treatment.

    The men aged 20, 26, and 31 are still in police custody.

    Officers ask that anyone with any information should call them on 101.
