    Here are the latest pictures from the scene of a large fire in Rotherham this morning.

    Six appliances and an aerial platform are in use at the former Dalton Progressive Working Men's Club on Doncaster Road.

    The building is thought to be derelict.

    The fire service got the call at 02:10 this morning.

    The A630 Doncaster Road is closed between the junctions with Dalton Lane and Magna Lane.

    Some cyclists in West Yorkshire say they still feel in danger when on the roads, despite a year-long police safety initiative.

    Safe Pass was launched a year ago, after seven cyclists died in the county in 2016 - the highest number since 1990.

    It was designed to educate drivers about how much space to leave when overtaking, but has now finished.

    Around 30 firefighters are dealing with a large fire in Rotherham this morning.

    It's at the former Dalton Progressive Working Men's Club on Doncaster Road.

    Alan Carrol, who was last seen shortly after 19:00 last night, has been found in Skegness in Lincolnshire.

    The event gives people the chance to develop their writing skills by working with professional writers from all genres, including poetry, fiction and non-fiction.

    There are also specialist workshops in crime writing, blurring the lines between fact and fiction, finding your narrative voice and horror writing.

    The festival is due to take place on 14 February and is now in its 14th year.

    Detectives in Bradford investigating an assault which has left a man seriously ill in hospital have released CCTV pictures of five people they want to speak to about it.

    Officers say a 35-year-old man stepped in to try and break up an argument near Bentley’s bar on Godwin Street last Sunday.

    But he then became the target of an attack from the two groups of people he was trying to calm.

    He is still in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

    The legendary Monte Carlo rally has passed through South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire today.

  13. Teenage girl 'incredibly lucky' after Leeds glass attackpublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2018

    A teenager from Leeds has been left with scars on her face after she was hit with a glass on a night out.

    It happened on 10 December at Space on Hirsts Yard when a man approached two women in the VIP section of the nightclub.

    An argument started and the man walked off, but he returned and hit an 18-year-old woman in the face with a glass before walking off again.

    She suffered serious injuries and had to go to hospital. She has since recovered from her injuries, but has been left with some scarring on her face:

  14. Appeal to restore the tick-tock to Ryedale's clockspublished at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2018

    A North Yorkshire museum is looking for a volunteer to get its historic display clocks working again.

    A Victorian chiming presentation clock is among the pieces that Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton le Hole is hoping to restore to working order.

    Helen Mason, collections team leader at the museum, said: "It was donated by Mr Rimer who was the school master in Rosedale and given to him by the school as a leaving gift in 1897."

    Other clocks in the museum's collection include a pendulum clock, a grandfather clock, a chapel wall clock and a General Post Office electric wall clock.

    Almost all the museum's clocks are in need of ongoing maintenance or restoration and staff are due to hold a volunteer recruitment day, external there on Wednesday 21 February.

  16. Police hunt for man on the run after Leeds brawlpublished at 16:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2018

    Police in Leeds say they're trying to track down this man after he failed turn up at court to be sentenced over his part in a mass brawl at a boxing event in Leeds:

    Last December, a total of 15 men and a woman were jailed after admitting their part in the brawl.

    The fighting erupted at Elland Road stadium and "took over the whole venue", Leeds Crown Court heard.

    However, Barry Brattley, 31, of Pontefract Street, East End Park, failed to go to the hearing and now police say they're trying to find him.

    A man was left with minor injuries in a hit-and-run crash in a village in Wakefield this morning.

    It happened on Leeds Road in Robin Hood just before 09:15 as the 58-year-old was crossing the road.

    He was taken to hospital after the crash which happened near the Old Halfway House pub.

    Police say they are looking for witnesses.

    Police in York have issued CCTV footage in a bid to identify a man they want to speak to in connection with a burglary in Poppleton last year.

    A "large quantity" of jewellery was taken during the burglary on 11 October 2017.

  19. Boston Spa school hits out at Leeds council merger planpublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2018

    A Leeds head teacher has criticised council plans to demolish his school and merge it with another nearby.

    Christopher Walsh, principal at Boston Spa Academy, had applied for the school to join The Gorse Academies Trust.

    Leeds City Council has objected to the application and wants the school to merge with nearby Wetherby High School.

    Mr Walsh said the merger would be detrimental to the academy and claims the council is "not fit for purpose".

    Leeds City Council has been approached for comment.
