Flood warnings have been issued for parts of the coast in North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
The warnings have been issued in part because of the high tide caused by the super Moon which some of us saw last night.
This tide, caused by the combined gravitational pull of the moon and sun, moves down the east coast from north to south, and is being exacerbated by the current weather conditions.
Firstly, low pressure in the North Sea lifts the sea surface slightly.
Secondly, the strong to gale force northwesterly wind, blowing in the same direction as the tide, adds to its height.
In fact, conditions are not dissimilar to those of 31 January 1953, when a catastrophic tidal surge affected the east coast and the Low Countries.
Thankfully, nothing on that scale is expected in the next 24 hours.
Two women and a girl in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, were left "incredibly shaken" when two men armed with knives tried to steal the car they were in.
It happened on Darley Street at about 19:30 on Wednesday when they had just parked up.
The two suspects, both carrying bread knives, went up to the car, opened the doors and told the women and the girl to get out.
They then tried to drag the young girl from the car, but the girl refused to move and they managed to drive off.
Anyone with information about the incident, or who saw what happened, is being asked to contact police.

Joanne McGuinness, national officer at Usdaw, the recognised trade union for Morrisons workers, says: "This is a further big upheaval for the Morrisons store management team after the restructure in 2014/15.
"We will be entering into consultations with the company on behalf of our members affected by these changes, which the company proposes to implement in April."
"Our priorities are to avoid redundancies and help our members stay employed within the business. We have secured from Morrisons a commitment to offer redeployment opportunities for all affected managers."
Around 20 protestors have staged a slow march to disrupt lorries heading to the IGas site at Springs Road, Misson, near Bawtry.
Protesters say they are unhappy because construction work is continuing at the site in spite of a condition in the drilling licence which restricts certain activities during the breeding season for long-eared owls.
The IGas site is close to Misson Training Area which is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of the wildlife found there.
Nottinghamshire County Council has granted an extension of construction works until 31 March 2018, subject to monitoring the noise levels at the bird breeding site.

Bradford-based Morrisons says its decision to axe 1,500 shop floor workers will "very regrettably" lead to a "period of uncertainty" for those affected.
The job losses are part of a restructuring of the company which the firm says will see more customer service staff and fewer managers.
Gary Mills, Morrisons retail director, says: "Our aim is to serve customers better with more frontline colleagues in stores improving product availability and helping customers at the checkouts.
"Our commitment is to redeploy as many affected colleagues as possible."
The supermarket giant says it will simultaneously create 1,700 junior jobs, while affected managers will be given the opportunity to apply for around 800 management vacancies in its stores.
Bradford-based Morrisons is to axe 1,500 shop floor workers as it becomes the latest supermarket to announce large-scale job cuts.
The supermarket giant said the shake-up is part of a restructure that would see more customer service staff and fewer managers.
More to follow.
The principal says the council's decision is motivated by politics and not in the best interests of the school.
