    A five-year-old girl who went missing on her way to school this morning in Leeds has said she was approached by a man.

    The girl became separated from her parents on the walk to school in the Armley area.

    Her mother alerted school staff who searched the area and found the girl being brought back to school by her grandmother having returned to her home roughly half a mile away

    She described the man who came up to her as white with brown hair.

    Police are asking for anyone with information to contact them but did say that they appreciate there may be an "innocent explanation".

    A tiny frog has made its way from the Dominican Republic to Wakefield - via Tesco!

    The frog had travelled 4,000 miles and was discovered at a supermarket in Blackburn.

    It is now in the care of Reptilia, a specialist exotics centre in Ossett.

    South Yorkshire police has confirmed they have closed an investigation into the alleged poisoning of tree removal workers in Sheffield.

    In January a retired couple from Meersbrook Park Road said they had been questioned by officers about the alleged poisoning of three workers who were felling trees.

    The suggestion was they could have put poison in cups of tea and a glass of orange juice.

    The police have now confirmed the case is closed.

    The rugby league side are trying to find a swimming pool which won't be too busy during the school holidays.

    Tigers coach, Daryl Powell, joked that fans should "give us a call" if they would be happy to have the sportsmen in their pool.

    Powell said: "A lot of people are off work over Easter and kids want to be swimming.

    "Football clubs have their own swimming pools, we don't, we have to work within the local community to get what we can."

    The Super League side use a swimming pool as part of their post-match recovery routine with players swimming or running in the water.

    Castleford Tigers have a busy week ahead playing Wakefield Trinity on Thursday evening and Warrington Wolves on Monday afternoon.

    An investigation into the Bramley flat fire earlier today is proving difficult because the room it started in has been totally destroyed, according to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

    It's been confirmed the fire in high-rise flats in Bramley was started on the eighth floor.

    Three people were taken to hospital after the blaze but their injuries are not thought to be serious.

    A man has been treated in hospital for a fractured skull and hearing loss after a hit and run in Normanby.

    The 18-year-old was hit by a red vehicle (possibly a BMW) outside the Woodman Arms pub on Normanby High Street.at about 22:30 on 17 March.

    Police believe the number 63 bus was passing at the time and are urging any witnesses to come forward.

    Video cameras are to be attached to bin lorries to help detect potholes in North Yorkshire.

    York City Council has already been trialing the high definition 'pothole spotter' technology.

    The council is expected to spend £72,000 expanding the current trial across the city.

    Yesterday we reported York and North Yorkshire will get more than £3.5m to pay for emergency pothole repairs.

    The money will be used to fix damage caused during a recent spell of cold, wet and snowy weather.

    The fate of a distinctive street tree in Sheffield remains unclear, despite a charity offering to fund work which could see it reprieved from being felled.

    The oak tree on Vernon Road was expected to be cut down last year as part of the city-wide road improvement programme.

    The council says work to stop the tree from damaging the road could cost thousands of pounds.

    The charity Trees for Cities , externalsubmitted its own report to the council earlier this month, saying said the work would cost substantially less and has offered to pay for it.

    A raid on a house in Sheffield has seen a man being arrested on suspicion of involvement in modern slavery.

    A 33 year-old man was arrested and has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
