The Championship club parted company with Paul Heckingbottom today, less than four months after his arrival at Elland Road.

The former Barnsley boss replaced Thomas Christiansen at the start of February.

He's the latest in a long list:

Neil Warnock served for just over a year, before leaving in April 2013, and his successor Brian McDermott lasted only until May of the following year.

David Hockaday and Darko Milanic also departed before 2014 was out, Neil Redfearn lasted barely six months and Uwe Rosler's sacking made it four completed reigns inside 16 months.

Steve Evans lasted seven months, Garry Monk nearly a year and Christiansen served from June 2017 to February 2018, while Heckingbottom was in charge for just 115 days.

Historically the club is no stranger to its' managers leaving abruptly after a short stint in charge at Elland Road, the most famous example being Brian Clough's 44-day reign which depicted in the film The Damned United.

In a statement, the club said he came to Leeds during a "difficult period in the season" and had "conducted himself in an exemplary manner despite results not going as any of us had hoped".

To be fair on Heckingbottom, I think he recognised very quickly what a lot of the fans saw: that a lot of the players aren't good enough for Championship life.

What I felt that he did do for Leeds, on the positive side, was to bring in a few players who either hadn't been in the first team set-up, had been left out or were stagnating.

He made them into players who looked like they can cope with life in the Championship.
