A blue plaque is due to be unveiled in West Yorkshire later in honour of the man who ran the country's first ever Accident and Emergency department.
In 1952, Maurice Ellis, a doctor from Leeds, was put in charge at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and became a pioneer in the field.
Stephen Bush, a consultant in emergency medicine at the hospital, says the LGI "is where it all started".
Mr Bush says the plaque in memory of Mr Ellis is "a fitting tribute" and is "something tangible to prompt people to ask questions when they see it".
The plaque will be unveiled at about 13:00 by Doctor Tajek Hussain, Consultant Emergency Physician at the LGI, at the Great George Street entrance to the hospital.
An arrest's been made following the stabbing of a 22-year-old man in Mexborough.
The attack happened at about 15:00 on Thursday afternoon when police received reports that a man had been stabbed on Hartley Street roundabout.
The man was taken to hospital with what have been described as "serious injuries" and nearby roads were closed while investigations were carried out.
Police are asking for anyone with any information about the stabbing to contact them.

It's after signs of land movement a Kex Gill on the A59, which is an important trans-Pennine route but has a history of instability and movement of the land.
Initial tests yesterday on the road between Harrogate and Skipton confirmed there was evidence of movement and that further investigations need to be carried out.
The most recent landslip, in January 2016, led to the road being shut for eight weeks.
Do you recognise this man? Police in York want to speak to him after £150 worth of football stickers were stolen from a shop in the city.

The man pictured was seen to enter the store at about 16:30 on Monday 4 April.
Anyone with information about his identity is being asked to contact police.
Five youngsters from North Yorkshire are heading to Finland to represent England at karate.
They've all been named in the 18-strong England youth squad and train in Northallerton.
They've still got to raise £2,500 to get there, but say they're all still looking forward to it.
Here they are in action - they certainly look ready to face this massive challenge:
A sell-out crowd's expected at Headingley over the next few days as international cricket returns to Leeds with England's second test against Pakistan.
England have failed to win any of their last eight Test matches, including losing the opening Test to Pakistan last week.
But captain Joe Root says he hopes the Headingley crowd can inspire England back to form.
"Playing international cricket here is very special for me, and to be captain as well is a great opportunity," the Yorkshireman says.
"It'll be great to get a win here this week, so bring it on," he adds.
Low cloud, mist and fog will gradually break up today leaving sunny spells, but with the chance of the odd shower, potentially heavy and thundery.
Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells, but also areas of low cloud, mist and fog.
There may be the odd shower too:
A murder investigation will continue today after the body of a 73-year-old woman was found in a house in Barnsley.
Reports were received at about 07:45 yesterday morning that a woman's body had been found with "numerous injuries" in the living room of a house on Roy Kilner Road in Wombwell.
The victim is yet to be identified and police say a post-mortem examination is due to take place "in the coming days" to establish the cause of her death.
There was no sign of a forced entry into the house, detectives say.
