    A South Yorkshire fabric shop owner is helping women who have had mastectomies by making covers to hide the bags used to drain surgery fluids.

    Fiona Walden, from Dinnington, came up with the idea after undergoing breast surgery.

    She said she felt embarrassed having to leave the hospital "showing all my bodily fluids to everybody":

    Firefighters have been dealing with a fire near Rother Valley country park overnight.

    South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they sent a team to deal with the blaze in an outbuilding at about 23:00 last night.

    There are no reports of any injuries.

    The parents of a Leeds man shot dead a decade ago in a possible case of mistaken identity have told how their lives were "turned upside down".

    Father-of-one Adam Chadwick was shot dead after members of a masked gang tried to force their way into his sister's house on 24 June 2008.

    He was celebrating his daughter Ruby's third birthday at the time.

    It's the first day without specialist support for 12 disabled people from North Yorkshire after cuts to their day centre services.

    Ripon Community Link says it had to take support away their support and cut a dozen staff jobs after changes to its funding.

    Val Cocker's son Stephen is one of those who lost his support when the charity closed its day centre on Friday.

    Mrs Cocker, from Bedale, said: "He was deemed to be too disabled to use this service after being here for four years.

    "The worst thing is, a lot of the people really don't know what's going on. They expect to be coming but they have to stay at home," she added.

    BBC Radio Leeds is celebrating 50 years on-air by building a pop-up radio station on the site of its original studios in the city centre.

    The station will be broadcasting from inside a glass box in the Merrion Centre in Leeds every day this week from 06:00 until 19:00:

    A group of Sheffield mums has joined together to try and tackle a rise in knife crime in the city.

    The group, called Mums United, was formed to try and stop young people getting involved in gangs and anti-social behaviour.

    Group member Nighat Basharat says that previously parents were "scared" and did not know how or where to report their concerns.

    UK councils are charging almost £74m a year between them for garden waste collection - but people in part of North Yorkshire pay some of the lowest charges in the country, it's emerged.

    Data collected by BBC One's Rip Off Britain has revealed that more than half of councils had introduced charges.

    Residents' green waste was previously paid for through the council tax by most local authorities.

    The Local Government Association said councils were forced to charge because they face a £5bn shortfall in funding from central government.

    Harlow in Essex has the highest average cost at £96 a year, while Richmond in North Yorkshire has the second lowest average cost at just £22 a year.

    The family of a Leeds man who was shot dead 10 years ago are making a fresh appeal for information on the anniversary of his death, external.

    Adam Chadwick, 20, died after being shot in the head while struggling with intruders at his sister's home in Harehills in 2008. Those responsible have never been caught.

    West Yorkshire Police will use a mobile display vehicle to show a video featuring interviews with his parents.

    Mr Chadwick's family are expected to accompany the vehicle around Harehills and hand out leaflets and speaking to members of the public.

  15. Witness appeal after car 'significantly damaged' in crashpublished at 07:41 British Summer Time 25 June 2018

    The driver and occupants of a car involved in a collision in Doncaster at the weekend are being asked by police to come forward.

    The crash, which happened at about 12:45 on Sunday, involved a blue Ford Focus and a white Vauxhall Vivaro which was parked in Askern Road, Bentley.

    The driver of the Ford, which police say was "significantly damaged", is reported to have left the scene - and it's thought a child may also have been in the vehicle at the time.

    Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to contact police.

  17. Witnesses appeal over fatal North Yorkshire crashpublished at 07:23 British Summer Time 25 June 2018

    A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car near a North Yorkshire pub at the weekend.

    The 29-year-old man, from Keighley, died following a collision with an orange Vauxhall Corsa on the A59, close to The Bull pub at Broughton, at about 23:10 on Saturday.

    A 31-year-old driver, who was from Barnoldswick in Lancashire, was left shaken but unhurt.

    The car was travelling away from Skipton and carrying one passenger, who received minor injuries.

    Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle and pedestrian, who was wearing a suit at the time, to come forward.

    It's going to be a warm, dry and sunny day, which will get off to a bright start, although later it will become hazy.

    The coast will be cooler with sea breezes developing, but wind will be lighter elsewhere.

    It will be a dry, mostly clear evening with patchy sea mist and low cloud which could drift onto the coast during the night.

    Train passengers in Yorkshire are being told it's "business as usual" this morning after a government company took over the running of the East Coast Main Line.

    Virgin Trains stopped running services on the route, which goes through Leeds, York and Doncaster, because it wasn't making enough money.

    As of yesterday, the route has been nationalised until a new operator is found.

    For the time being it's called London North Eastern Railway, or LNER.
