    A woman in a North Yorkshire village was woken up by masked burglars who had broken into her house, entered the bedroom where she was sleeping and were searching for her car keys.

    Police have described the actions of the burglars during the break-in at a house in Sutton-in-Craven in the early hours of Tuesday morning as "disturbing".

    The victim was was woken by the two masked men at about 04:10. They told her to hand over the keys to her BMW which was parked outside.

    She gave them the keys to another vehicle and then both men left the house, leaving the keys and her car.

    A 78-year-old man with dementia has died after being pulled from a lake at Roundhay Park in Leeds this afternoon.

    Police were alerted just after midday after the man went missing.

    When they arrived at the park, a member of the public told them they had seen a man in the lake.

    A PCSO got him out of the water and began emergency treatment and he was taken to hospital, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

    Officers say his death isn't suspicious and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later.

    There'll be free street theatre performances in Hull over the coming weeks as the council says it wants to continue building on the success of the city's time as City of Culture 2017.

    Giant puppets, an octopus (pictured below), massive inflatable whales, lost silent movie characters (pictured above), 6m-high slinkies and even bees going to the cinema are heading for the city, the council says.

    The performances begin in Queen Victoria Square from today until the end of August and you can keep up to date with the performances by following @Hullccnews, external.

    Stamps marking the life and achievements of Captain Cook have been released by the Royal Mail.

    Cook was born in Marton, near Middlesbrough, and began his maritime career in Whitby.

    The 10 new stamps celebrate the 250th anniversary of his voyage on Endeavour and include original drawings and paintings from the trip.

    The stamps include a selection of the original drawings and paintings of the indigenous peoples made by Cook and his crew.

    They include landscapes of the Pacific and flora and fauna, some of which had never previously been seen by Europeans and which amazed the people of the time.

    Asked whether the news had come as a surprise, Collins said no further details could be released while the club conducted due diligence into the matter.

    Google have edited their homepage, external, also known as a Google Doodle, so their logo is incorporated into a moving image of Morley looking at footballers squabbling (pictured).

    Yorkshire Water says it's aware of the problems and is trying to address them as quickly as possible.

    A company spokesman said the dry ground conditions may be to blame for a spike in the number of water main problems.

    Jack was encouraged by staff at Trinity Academy to apply for Cambridge and attended summer schools there and at Oxford.

    He said: "They gave me a taste of the way of life there and the people were really down to earth, which I was surprised by."

    I'm at Roundhay Park in Leeds where a man has been pulled from the lake.

    Emergency services were called at about 12:15 and part of the park was closed off.

    The cordon has now been lifted and the ambulance service has left the scene.

    However, police officers are still here.

    No details of the rescued man's condition have been given yet.

    A recovery vehicle was on the scene a short while ago and it's hoped the road will be cleared soon.

    Humberside Police say no one is believed to be injured but the road remains partially blocked so people are being advised to avoid the area where possible.

    A dental student from Sheffield has been convicted of funding terrorism, after sending money to his brother who had joined a terror group in Syria.

    Abdurahman Kaabar, 23, of Martin Street, Sheffield, agreed to send money to Mohammed Kaabar.

    Police say the man had travelled to Syria in order to join Jabhat al Fateh al Sham, previously known as al-Nusra, who were fighting against government forces.

    Kaabar admitted knowing his brother was fighting with the group, but said he didn't know the money he sent would fund terrorism.

    Kaabar was also found guilty of a second count of funding terrorism, when he offered to send a further sum to his brother in July 2017.

    The transfer on that occasion didn't take place.

    At an earlier hearing, Kaabar pleaded guilty to several counts of possessing and disseminating extremist material.

    He will be sentenced next month at Sheffield Crown Court.

    There has been a large response from the emergency services and an area of the park has been cordoned off.

    Four men have been charged with the murder of Sheffield man Jarvin Blake.

    The men were initially arrested in connection with Mr Blake's death earlier this year.

    The 22-year-old was fatally stabbed on Catherine Street, at the junction with Brackley Street, in the Burngreave area on the afternoon of Thursday 8 March.

    Josiah Foster, 26, of the Manor, Sheffield, Lewis Barker, 26, of Parson Cross, Sheffield, Caine Gray, 27, of Treeton, Rotherham and Devon Walker, 24, of Burngreave, Sheffield have all been charged with murder.

    Walker is also charged with actual bodily harm in relation to a 23-year-old man who was also injured.

    He has since made a full recovery.

    The four men will appear before Sheffield Magistrate’s Court later.
