    On the day thousands of teenagers across Yorkshire get their exam results, one charity says young people struggle to cope with the pressure.

    Childline say more than 1,000 counselling sessions took place last year, with a quarter of them being delivered during August when GCSE and A-level results are published.

    The charity has seen a rise of 15% in young people saying they're suffering from stress and depression.

    An event which celebrates the LGBT+ community in Sheffield has been cancelled after all its committee members resigned, because they didn't feel supported.

    Pride has been an annual event in the city for ten years, but organisers say a lack of sponsorship and negative comments on social media has left them feeling demoralised.

    The committee faced criticism after describing the event as "a march of celebration not protest".

    In a resignation statement, external, organisers said this year's event had been "a huge success" but was "the most challenging yet", with donations to a bucket collection "substantially less than last year".

    Commuters in West Yorkshire could find their trains either delayed or cancelled this morning after a tractor hit overhead power lines near Wakefield.

    As you can see from the photo, the tractor had driven onto the railway line and hit the gantry holding the power lines, tripping the electricity.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say the vehicle was removed from the track, near Fitzwilliam, at 05:37 and Network Rail are working to repair the track and cables.

    Police are appealing for help to find this 84-year-old woman in Leeds.

    Dorothy Chamberlain from the Halton area, was last seen this morning outside the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds.

    Officers think she could still be in Leeds city centre.

    She was last seen wearing a red anorak, a grey jumper, trousers and white shoes.

    A dangerous and calculating arsonist, who has torched at least nine cars, is being hunted by police in Hull.

    Patrols have been stepped up in the Bransholme and Kingswood areas of the city where the incidents took place and Humberside Police say they're working with the fire service and council to talk to people about the dangers.

    A woman's lost two of her teeth after being hit in the face by a man in Scarborough.

    It happened at about 01:30 on 29 July on St Thomas Street outside the Cowshed restaurant and saw the victim being hit by a man, knocking out two of her teeth.

    The man, who was with a group of people at the time, is described as a white, of medium build, 6ft tall, with a neat gingery-brown beard and curly gingery brown hair.

    Two Yorkshire children have organised and completed a cross-country cycle ride, raising money for charity as they pedal.

    Oli Akers, 12, from Holmfirth, and Tom Scott, 13, from Sheffield, cycle regularly for Holmfirth Cycling Club.

    They set themselves the 170-mile challenge because both of their lives have been touched by cancer.

    They rode from Morecambe to Bridlington in just two days and have raised almost £1,500 for the charity Macmillian Cancer Support.

    Finishing yesterday, they thanked people for the support.

    Police have released this picture of two teenagers they want to speak to after a boy was chased down by older teenagers and robbed of his bike in Doncaster:

    The 13-year-old boy was riding his bike through Elmfield Park in the Town Field area at about 14:30 on 20 July.

    Two teenagers came up to him, threatened him and told him to get off his bike and hand it over, but he tried to get away from them.

    They then chased him to near a sports club where they took his bike, he fell to the floor but wasn't injured.

    Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact police.

  16. Sheffield terror suspect 'close' to Arena bomberpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 15 August 2018

    A dental student from Sheffield accused of funding terrorism told a friend he had "close family links" to Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi, a court has heard.

    Abdurahman Kaabar (pictured), 23, also sent a message saying "may Allah forgive him" just days after Abedi detonated a bomb killing 22 people in May 2017.

    Prosecutors allege he twice sent money to his brother Mohammed in Syria.

    Mr Kaabar has admitted sending money on one occasion but told jurors it was for "medicinal purposes".

    The trial continues.

    The entire committee behind Sheffield's Pride event has resigned, saying their efforts have not been appreciated, external.

    This year's event took place late last month, but its organisers said their efforts had been "constantly criticised" and they had faced "unhelpful comments" on social media.

    In a statement, the committee says: "It is therefore with regret that the whole Pride Sheffield committee has chosen to resign and we will no longer provide an annual Pride event in Sheffield."

    They said that any leftover funds from this year's events will be donated to the South Yorkshire LGBT+ awards.

    The organisation of the event had come into criticism in May this year for describing the event as "a march of celebration not protest".

    The comment, included in an email to participants, sparked anger on social media, with one person saying it is "whitewashing our entire struggle".

  19. North Yorkshire no longer flush with public toiletspublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 15 August 2018

    There are 22 fewer council-run toilets in North Yorkshire now compared to 2010, according to BBC research.

    The Hambleton district, which had 10 eight years ago, now has no public conveniences run by the local authority.

    There's also been a reduction in the Harrogate, Selby and Richmondshire council areas.

    The Local Government Association says substantial reductions to budgets have meant councils have had to make "tough choices" about continuing to run such facilities.
