Hull is one of the worst places in Yorkshire for childhood obesity and latest figures show that about 30% of children aged four to five are overweight or obese, while for 10 and 11-year-olds, this figure rises to 36%.

Hull City Council's director of public health, Julia Weldon, said the findings were a "stark" warning for the future of Hull's children.

She said: "Up to 8,000 local children are at risk of future ill health if we don't act together to achieve and sustain a downward trend in these numbers."

  19. Thousands could have had data stolen in York bin app hackpublished at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November 2018

Nearly 6,000 people may have had their personal data stolen after York's bin collection app was hacked, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

City of York Council was contacted by a hacker who said they had found a way to access the personal data of residents using the app, including phone numbers, encrypted passwords and addresses.

The council says it "deeply regrets" the breach of the app, which gives information about bin collections and recycling and which has 5,994 registered users.

In a letter sent to users of the One Planet York app, the council said it was not sure what had been done with the data.

Since the person responsible has not asked for anything in return for the personal data, it's hoped that they are someone who looks for data vulnerabilities in the public interest - also known as an ethical or white-hat hacker.

The breach has been reported to North Yorkshire Police and users of the app are advised to remove it and to change the passwords on their accounts.
