A park in Barnsley which is earmarked for demolition as part of a new road gyratory system has had more public money spent on it in the last five years than any other park in the town.
The new road is expected to be built through the middle of Penny Pie Park as part of the authority's plans to ease traffic problems around the Dodworth Road crossroads.
Barnsley Council's plans have been criticised by campaigners after about £174,000 was allocated to improve the area after winning two awards.
Some of the work which had been funded by the awards was stopped before being finished when the gyratory system was announced.
The authority told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: "The council has already highlighted Penny Pie Park's assets, which it will look to retain as part of the planning proposal."
Leeds United forward Mallik Wilks will face trial next year on a charge of assault.
The striker, currently on loan at League One's Doncaster Rovers, appeared at Leeds Crown Court this afternoon.
The 19-year-old denies assault and a public order offence linked to a disturbance during Leeds West Indian Carnival in 2017.
The charges relate to an attack on Chapeltown Road on 28 August.
Mr Wilks, who gave an address in Crossgates, is due to stand trial in July 2019.
The striker made his debut for Leeds United in January 2017 before being loaned out to Doncaster in the summer transfer window.
People in the south of Leeds have the chance to get a closer look at latest plans for the proposed high-speed HS2 rail line which would cut through the area.
The latest plans are on display at the Oulton Institute this afternoon.
The proposed HS2 route has faced criticism over rising costs and the potential demolition of homes to make way for construction.

It's been home to wildlife artist Robert Fuller for 20 years.
When he first moved there, the land was bare and had little in the way of wildlife activity but Robert transformed it and even put in cameras to help him study the wildlife for his artwork.
Now, more than 60 species of birds and a host of owls, stoats and weasels call it home.
To celebrate the last two decades, Robert's put together a retrospective exhibition telling the story of how he transformed a barren plot into a wildlife haven.
He's also created this short film featuring a few of his wildlife stars:

Old Christmas cards donated by Hull residents have gone on show in an exhibition in the city.
The exhibition of cards through the ages opened its door to the public at Hull History Centre.
It has cards dating back to 1868, including examples from both World War One and World War Two.
Archivist Elspeth Bower said: "The inspiration for the exhibition came from a desire to know whether the traditional Christmas card, which was once an integral part of Christmas, has a future in the social media age in which we live."
Many of the cards on display have been loaned to the centre by Hull residents, with one person lending more than 100 cards.

The Golden Gallopers fairground ride, which has ridden into Leeds at Christmas time for the last 15 years, has returned once again to its usual city centre site.
But do you know the history behind this very traditional roundabout?
It was built in about 1881 by Norwich-based engineer Robert Tidman as a Dobby, an early type of roundabout usually propelled manually by the operator.
It was later rebuilt as an "overhead Galloper" by Thomas Walker.
It was eventually sold to James Crow in August 1963 who began the painstaking process of rebuilding and restoring it to its former glory.
He operated it at the famous Spanish City in Whitley Bay before moving to Sunderland and appearing at major fairs across the north including Newcastle Hoppings Fair and Hull Fair.
In 2014, the Gallopers was purchased by the Harris family, owners of Pat Collins Fairs, who have again undertaken extensive restoration work.
Quote MessageThe Gallopers really are in quite remarkable condition considering their age and it's amazing to see them still going strong after all these years."
