    A double amputee was "hit" by a doorman as he was ejected from a bar in Leeds, causing him to fall and split his head on the pavement.

    George Blackshaw was removed from Headrow House in Leeds in the early hours of Tuesday after spilling a drink.

    A witness said a doorman hit the 19-year-old on the head, causing his fall.

    The venue has apologised and security firm Showsec International Ltd said it had sacked the staff member involved.

    West Yorkshire Police said it was in the early stages of an inquiry.

    A 15-year-old girl has gone missing in South Yorkshire and police are appealing for help in locating her.

    Precious Price was last seen by her family at about 14:30 yesterday in North Anston, Rotherham, police say.

    She is about 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build, with long brown hair and is believed to be wearing a white hooded top, white jeans and a red jacket.

    Officers say they are growing "increasingly concerned" for her welfare are appealing for people to report sightings as soon as possible.

    A scheme set up to harness the power of thousands of volunteers is being launched today in North Yorkshire.

    It's called Ready for Anything and has its roots in the Boxing Day floods of 2015.

    The North Yorkshire Resilience Forum say: "During the floods resources were stretched, however, the practical support offered by members of the public and businesses was invaluable.

    "To ensure the response is even better in the future we are creating a database of enthusiastic volunteers who we can call upon to help."

    An event at York Centre for Voluntary Services will hear how North Yorkshire's councils want to set up a database of volunteers who will be trained to help during an emergency.

    A 32-year-old woman passenger has died after a car left the road and crashed into a lamppost in Hull.

    The woman suffered serious injuries after the collision on Noddle Hill Way at about 03:00 on Saturday.

    She was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary (pictured) for treatment but died from her injuries yesterday.

    Police are appealing for information following the crash which involved a red Ford Focus.

    Police will use a "DNA spray" to tag anti-social moped and motorcycle riders in North Yorkshire, so they can identify them at a later date.

    Officers will be equipped with the invisible spray, which is coded with a unique "DNA" to target offenders who often have their faces covered.

    They will mark the rider and their bike with the spray, which shows up blue under UV light and can't be washed off, linking them to a specific crime.

    The £2,500 roll-out of the spray - already being used by 14 other UK police forces - is being funded by money recouped from criminals through the courts.

    PC Tom Ibbetson, said: “The beauty of the DNA tagging spray is that suspects and bikes can be identified many weeks after being tagged.

    "They will have to be constantly looking over their shoulder because the police will catch up with them sooner or later."

    Humberside Police have revealed the winning entry in their children's Christmas card competition.

    A 13-year-old girl called Millie has won the top prize for her design which shows a police helicopter putting Christmas lights onto the Humber Bridge.

    The runner-up was an eight-year-old boy called Laurence who drew a picture of Father Christmas driving a police car.

    In a Twitter post, Humberside Police said it had been a "tough competition" with "so many amazing creations".

  16. Police follow leads on Hull homeless tent jump videopublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2018

    Police say there has been an "overwhelming" response to CCTV footage showing a man jumping feet-first on a tent with two homeless men sleeping inside while friends laughed and filmed him.

    Officers released the video, filmed in Hull city centre, and say they now have a number of leads which are being followed up.

    The incident, on Friday 30 November, was not reported to police by the victims, who "fortunately" were uninjured.

    Hull City Council passed the footage on to police and officers were dispatched to find them "to ensure their safety and welfare".

    Humberside Police says it has had "numerous calls" and are appealing to the men in the footage to come forward as investigations continue.

    Investigating officer Michelle Garlick said: "These actions and behaviour will not be tolerated in our city.”

    A Hull MP says she has had a meeting with a pharmaceutical company, which is a big employer in the city, about the "stockpiling of drugs" in the event of the UK leaving the EU without a deal.
