A letter written about Hull by Henry VIII sold for £20,000 when it went under the hammer at an auction a short time ago.
It's believed to date back to 1541 and concerns the appointment of a new master gunner to the city's garrison.
The letter says the gunner, Thomas King, is to be paid wages of eight pence a day - and four pence for his assistant.
This piece of local and national history sold for more than the £8,000-£12,000 it was expected to fetch at Christie's Auction House.
Henry VIII, one of the most famous kings in English history, was the second Tudor monarch and was well known for having six wives.
