    Police are appealing for help in finding a boy from Leeds who has been missing for almost a month.

    Bilal Ahmed, 16, from Farnley, was reported missing on 26 November.

    He is described as Asian, 5ft 10ins tall, slim, with black hair and a faint moustache.

    He was last seen wearing a khaki tracksuit and black trainers.

    He is known to frequent Harehills, but anyone who knows where he could be is being urged by police to get in touch.

    Police officers are hunting for missing 12-year-old Alani Robertshaw, from Harrogate.

    She was last seen at about 18:30 yesterday wearing a fluffy pink jacket, blue jeans and blue trainers.

    It's thought she could be in Leeds.

    Anyone with information about her whereabouts is being asked to contact police.

    Bridlington's retail economy is struggling, according to figures in a new report.

    Statistics from the Local Data Company show more independent shops have closed in the resort than anywhere else in East Yorkshire.

    But East Riding of Yorkshire Council says it disputes the figures, saying as businesses close new ones are being set up.

    Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash in Handsworth earlier this month.

    A 75-year-old pedestrian was hit by a motorbike near the Shell petrol station on Handsworth Road about 12:15 on 7 December and died later in hospital.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward, including a man who was walking his dog near the petrol station at about midday.

    CCTV pictures have been released after two men were left with "life-altering" injuries after being attacked in a Sheffield pub this weekend.

    It's thought the two men were attacked in the Howard Pub on Howard Street in the city centre at about 21:45 on Saturday night.

    The victims, aged 59 and 57, were taken to hospital with life-altering facial injuries, according to South Yorkshire Police.

    Anyone who recognises the men in the pictures above is being asked to contact police.

    A concerned woman fearing "up to no good" carol singers was one of several unusual phone calls received by North Yorkshire Police during "Mad Friday".

    The force has shared details of the incident as part of a "tweetathon" documenting every call received between noon on Friday and 06:00 on Saturday

    It's a period known to be one of the busiest of the year for forces across the country.

    In one post, sent at 20:36 on Friday, the force said officers had been contacted by a woman in Harrogate about the carol singers, who are believed to have been from nearby Leeds.

    The tweet said: "Caller from #Harrogate who is aware of Christmas carol singers in the area who she believes are from Leeds.

    "Caller believes they are up to no good as they are not local to area - observations passed to local officers."

    The 55-year-old Dutchman took over the club in January, winning only 16 and losing 19 of his 49 matches in charge.

    Police officers are trying to find a missing woman who was last seen in Doncaster yesterday.

    Danielle Stoton was seen at Doncaster railway station at about 20:00 last night.

    Her family and police are growing increasingly concerned as she doesn't have medication with her which she needs to take.

    It's thought she could be in South Yorkshire or possibly in Leeds.

    A block of flats in East Yorkshire "blighted by vandalism and anti-social behaviour problems" is going to be demolished.

    East Riding of Yorkshire Council says it's issued notices for the demolition of the flats on Cherry Tree Avenue in Withernsea.

    The council says all tenants have now been found alternative accommodation and the buildings have been boarded up and secured to prevent further crime and anti-social behaviour taking place.

    Councillor Symon Fraser said: “This is very positive news for local residents.

    “These flats have been the scene of crime and disorder for some time making the lives of other people living nearby a misery.

    “The demolition of the flats will pave the way for the council to improve the site for the benefit of the people of Withernsea.”

    Police have arrested a man they have been searching for over the last two years.

    Police say Craig Smith, 49, was arrested shortly before 04:00 this morning at an address in Dewsbury.

    Officers have been looking for him since an incident in Leeds in August 2016 in which they believe firearms and threats to kill were involved.

    Almost 300 motorists have been arrested in West Yorkshire during a three-week anti drink and drug-driving campaign, police say.

    A total of 283 drivers tested positive for alcohol after giving a breath specimen or for cannabis and cocaine after giving a saliva specimen, according to West Yorkshire Police.

    Officers say they'll continue checking for over the limit drivers "every day and night".

    Six fire crews have battled a blaze at a former sports and social club in Rotherham overnight.

    Firefighters were called at about 00:30 this morning to the fire at the derelict Willowgarth social club in Rawmarsh.

    The building was well alight with flames over two floors, according to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

    An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it is completely extinguised, the fire service says.

    About 1,000 walkers are expected to set off from Ripon Cathedral on Boxing Day to follow in the footsteps of a band of Cistercian monks.

    The monks set out from Ripon the day after Christmas in 1132 AD to found a new Cistercian monastery on the banks of the River Skell.

    The monastery they founded became known as Fountains Abbey and the annual Boxing Day pilgrimage from Ripon Cathedral to its ruins has become a Christmas tradition for many.

    The four-mile walk will be led this year by the Dean of Ripon, the Very Reverend John Dobson and the Bishop of Ripon, the Right Reverend Dr Helen-Ann Hartley.

    Bishop Hartley was previously a bishop in New Zealand and says this year her Christmas will be a very different experience to previous celebrations.

    She says: "Christmas Day last year was a barbecue by a friend's swimming pool. After six years experiencing Christmas 'down under', I'm really looking forward to getting the seasons back in the order I'm used to."

    A man has died after a crash in Doncaster yesterday.

    It's thought a black Vauxhall Vectra was travelling along Bawtry Road at about 22:20 last night when it crashed into a streetlight and a garden wall.

    A 27-year-old man was found critically injured in the car but died in hospital.

    The other people in the car left the scene, police say.

    A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
