    Huddersfield fire crews have raised more than £100k for charity Children in Need.

    The team have been collecting from drivers in passing cars outside the station, as well as heading picking up donations from the public in town.

    Chief Fire Officer John Roberts said: “The crews and station staff have worked tirelessly for 18 years, collecting in all types of weather to try and improve the lives of children across the UK.

    "We couldn’t be prouder of them, they embody everything you would expect from a firefighter, caring, committed and community-minded."

    A robber who held his victim at knifepoint in Sheffield has been jailed for 10 years.

    Jamie Jeffers, 38, was found guilty of robbery, burglary and breach.

    On 6 August Jeffers approached a man on Westbourne Road and tried to rob him at knifepoint.

    He then dragged the 23-year-old victim over a wall and tied him to a tree, threatening him with violence.

    Sheffield Crown Court heard how Jeffers left with nothing.

    Det Sgt John Dimberline said: “This was a highly distressing incident for the victim and it was a prolonged and incredibly traumatic ordeal.

    "Jeffers is a dangerous man, and I am pleased to say that he is now off the streets."

    One of Transwaste's proposals involves installing 20 generators on land next to Melton Gospel Hall where religious services involving hundreds of people frequently take place.

    Members of East Riding of Yorkshire Council's planning committee want to visit similar sites before deciding whether the development can proceed.

    A spokesman for the Gospel Hall congregation says worshippers are very concerned about noise from the generators disrupting their services.

    Parents of children at a Sheffield school say they're worried about their children's future after the school announced it was looking to close its sixth form due to budget problems.

    A consultation document, external says Bradfield School, which recently became an academy, is "deeply in financial deficit" of £400,000 per year and there's insufficient sixth form enrollment to make it viable.

    Financial reserves at the school "have been exhausted", the document adds.

    If plans go ahead, the sixth form would be closed to new students from September this year despite pupils having to decide their next step in the coming weeks.

    School bosses say they understand the distress this may have caused Year 11 students and their families and they are working hard to try and find a solution if the sixth form does close.

    The blue Audi was on false registration places when it was spotted at a McDonalds in Rotherham, according to South Yorkshire Police's operational support team.

    An unmarked police car "sneaked" up on the unsuspecting driver of the Audi before being stopped, the team says.

    One of the Treasury's top ministers is refusing to rule out an end to the squeeze on budgets for children's services in North Yorkshire.

    The county's Pupil Referral Units that look after some of the most vulnerable youngsters lost £1.5m of funding last month.

    Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Conservative Liz Truss, has been in the county in Tadcaster today.

    I met the minister today and asked her how children's services in North Yorkshire can continue, if there isn't enough funding from the government.

    She told me "We haven't yet set the budgets for the next three years, so I'm looking at what people's priorities are locally and also understanding where council's budgets are and what we need to do on that front."

    Conservative-controlled North Yorkshire County Council says its going to tell the Treasury today it needs more money.

    The 30-year-old is wanted for recall to prison and in connection with reported motoring offences committed last year, police said.

    Several people have been arrested and there was a public appeal last year, but Lawrence still hasn't been found.

    He has connections to Brincliffe and Sharrow, according to police.
