Owners Caroline and Peter Buckley were staying with family in Thackley five years ago.

They let their two cats out into the garden but one of their pets, Tinkerbell, did not return.

The family updated Tinkerbell's microchip details in the hope of finding her and the RSPCA found her on 11 January.

Astonishingly, she was living in a greenhouse just metres away from where she had originally gone missing.

Mrs Buckley said: "I was speechless. I told my dad and he just burst into tears, we couldn’t believe it. We wanted her back straight away.

"She sits on my dad’s knee now as though she has never been away - although I think it’ll be a while before we let her out."

The 32-storey development at Midland Mills in Holbeck would have the same number of floors as Bridgwater Place, currently the region's tallest building at 367ft high.

    Bridgewater Place

Professor Alan Simson, from the School of Architecture at Leeds Beckett University, says when planning new tall buildings, the impact of the wind needs to be carefully considered.

In 2011, a man died after high winds around Bridgwater Place (pictured) toppled a lorry.

Professor Simpson says: "The big problem is the downdraft and you have to bear in mind Leeds is quite a windy city - the wind comes howling down the River Aire and you do have to take account of it."

Tony Foulds was eight-years-old when he saw a US bomber crash at Endcliffe Park following a World War Two bombing mission in 1944, killing 10 men on board.

Since then, Mr Foulds has regularly tended a memorial built in the victims' honour and he's made calls for a fly-past to mark the 75th anniversary of the crash.

Earlier this week, it was finally announced that the fly-past will go ahead, featuring planes from both the RAF and the US Air Force.

There are now calls for Mr Foulds to be honoured with an award for his work.

Paul Kershaw has told the BBC Mr Foulds is "an inspiration": "If you are looking for a people's award, OBE etc I think look no more."

Meanwhile, Rob Luke has told the BBC: "This is certainly one person who should be awarded by HRH in acknowledgement of his dedication in honouring the memory of the deceased aircrew."

  18. Concern over cuts to sex offenders rehabilitation schemepublished at 08:07 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2019

Volunteers working to rehabilitate sex offenders say the future of their work in Yorkshire to reduce the number of victims of sex crimes is in jeopardy because of funding cuts.

    Jail

People who work on the Circles UK programme meet convicted sex offenders after their release from prison to help with their rehabilitation.

The charity has been running projects across the UK since 2002, but funding from the National Probation Service is coming to an end in March.

Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire's Police, Fire and Crime commissioner, is calling on the Justice Minister to continue providing money.

Ms Mulligan says: "Circles works with high-risk sex offenders to try and prevent them from committing further offences. If that money is stopped, we think we'll have only half the amount of provision and that is really serious."

The Ministry of Justice says the scheme is only a small part of a broader plan to prevent re-offending.

There were 13,535 inmates serving prison terms for sex offences in England and Wales, according to figures released in June 2018, external.

They would operate at speeds of up to 250mph, faster than any current operating speed in Europe, and would run as often as 14 times per hour in each direction.

Writing in a letter signed by more than 40 organisations, concerns have been raised over whether the second phase of the scheme will ever be completed.
