Leeds Council apologises for school place website failurepublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 16 April 2019
Leeds City Council has apologised after maintenance work on a website meant parents were unable to see which primary school their children will be attending from September.
Some parents had been up in the early hours of this morning to log into the portal but were met with this error message:
The website, which had crashed in the early hours of Tuesday morning, was inaccessible until about 09:00.
In a statement, Leeds Council has apologised for the inconvenience: "The maintenance should not have taken place on these servers during such an important time for parents and I can only apologise for the frustration this has caused."
A total of 8,501 families in Leeds are being offered their first preference, external out of 9,643 reception applicants this year, according to the council.
