Search resumes for climbers missing in Indiapublished at 08:37 British Summer Time 4 June 2019
The search for a group of climbers, including an academic from York, who went missing in the Himalayas eight days ago is due to resume today.
Dr Richard Payne from the University of York was with a group of eight people attempting to reach the top of an unclimbed peak.
It's believed they were struck by an avalanche.
The missing group began climbing Nanda Devi on 13 May.
Indian helicopter pilots say they spotted five bodies on the mountainside yesterday, before bad weather forced them to halt their operation.
"Four bodies can be seen together and a fifth slightly away from the others," a senior official for the nearby Pithoragarh region told Reuters news agency.
