    Almost 750 people volunteer with St Luke's, helping to support the services provided for terminally ill people in the city.

    A 14-year-old boy has been missing from Wakefield since last Friday, according to police.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses to trace Krystian Pawlowski.

    The 14-year-old is described as slim and was last seen wearing a red hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

    Det Sgt Sarah Degnan, of Wakefield CID, said: “We're concerned for Krystian’s welfare and believe he's been in Wakefield over the weekend."

    Humberside Police shared a picture on Twitter and said: "If this is you or you know who she is please call us".

    A man who bought drinks for a student he met at a Hull nightclub later texted her to ask for his money back because they didn’t "go home togeva".

    Chlo Matthews, from Leeds, posted a screenshot of her conversation with "Danny from Atik" following her night out at a bar in Hull on Friday.

    His message said: “Could you transfer me for those drinks I bought you last nite since we didn’t go home togeva. Wasn’t really worth my time was it”

    Demonstrations against President Trump's visit to the UK are planned for Sheffield and Leeds later.

    The US President has arrived in the UK today for a three-day official state visit.

    There was a protest against President Trump's visit in York's Saint Helen's Square on Saturday.

    It's not the first time people in Yorkshire have rallied against the President, about 4,000 people marched in Sheffield when he visited London last summer.

    A lecturer from the University of York is believed to be among eight climbers missing in the Himalayas.

    Dr Richard Payne (pictured) has been named locally as one of the group of climbers missing on Nanda Devi.

    Two Indian air force helicopters are searching the mountains for the missing group, comprised of four Britons, two Americans, an Australian and an Indian.

    The mountaineers began ascending Nanda Devi on 13 May with the four other climbers, who were rescued on Sunday.

    The group of four has helped to narrow down the search area, officials said.

    In a statement The University of York confirmed Dr Paynehad been reported missing after travelling to the Himalayas on a climbing trip.

    "We are extremely concerned for his safety," it said.

    The missing group was being led by experienced British mountain guide Martin Moran, whose Scotland-based company Moran Mountain has run numerous expeditions in the Indian Himalayas.

    In a statement, his family said they were pressing for the search area to be widened, and wanted it to continue until they had firm evidence of the "wellbeing or otherwise of all those in the climbing group".

    A 17-year-old boy needed surgery after suffering severe head injuries during an assault at a rave in Sheffield, police say.

    Emergency services were called to Lady Cannings Plantation, on Sheephill Road, at about 04:20 on Sunday following reports of an attack at the outdoor event.

    It's thought the boy was attacked with a weapon.

    A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack.

    Police are appealing for help to find a 15-year-old boy who has been missing for nine days.

    Officers say Lee-John Cherowbrier was last seen at about 20:00 on 25 May in the Dunscroft area of Doncaster.

    He's described as white, 5ft 5ins tall, medium build with fair skin and strawberry blonde short hair.

    Lee-John was last seen wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, black and silver trainers, and a grey hoodie.

    The South Yorkshire force want anyone who's seen him to get in touch.

  13. Sheffield Shiregreen deaths: Vigil for teenage boyspublished at 07:54 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    A church vigil has been held for two teenage boys allegedly murdered by their mother in Sheffield.

    Blake Barrass, 14, and Tristan Barrass, 13, were found in the Shiregreen area of the city on 24 May.

    Their mother, 34-year-old Sarah Barrass, and Brandon Machin, 38, have been charged with murder.

    The Rev David Dean-Revill, from St James and St Christopher's Church, said: "Shiregreen is a friendly and resilient community that has been shaken by this tragic event."

    Dozens of people joined the vigil at the church on Bellhouse Road, where candles were lit for the boys.

    Ms Barrass has also been charged with three counts of attempted murder against two other children.

    Both she and Mr Machin have been remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 21 June.

    Sheffield City Council has confirmed that a serious case review is to be held into the boys' deaths.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man who was hit by a tram in Sheffield.

    Martin Rigg, 37, was struck on 22 May, shortly before 22:30, near Convent Walk on West Street and died in hospital four days later.

    Police said the arrested man, a 26-year-old, was from the Shiregreen area.

    Detectives said they were still working to establish what happened before Mr Rigg was hit by the tram and appealed for witnesses.

  16. Boy injured in rollercoaster fall 'improving'published at 07:11 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    The condition of a seven-year-old boy who fell from a rollercoaster in North Yorkshire last week is improving, police have said.

    The child was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary on Thursday with head injuries and was described as being in a "critical condition," after the incident at the Lightwater Valley theme park near Ripon.

    In a statement North Yorkshire Police said the boy is now "breathing independently and his condition continues to improve".

    Witnesses said he fell about 15 feet from the Twister rollercoaster.

    People reported hearing screams and seeing him "hanging backwards" from the carriage.

    The Health and Safety Executive is investigating.

    A caver has died in the Yorkshire Dales during a 17-hour rescue attempt involving nearly 100 volunteers.

    The man is said to have broken his leg in a fall deep within a cave at Curtain Pot, on Fountains Fell, North Yorkshire, on Saturday.

    He died before being brought to the surface, according to the Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO).

    The CRO said the narrowness of the passages in an unmapped part of the cave caused difficulties for rescuers.

    The man, who had been part of a group of three cavers, received aid from a doctor assisted by trained casualty carers.

    The CRO said: "Unfortunately, due to the nature of his injuries, and the extended time needed to create a navigable way out, the casualty succumbed to his injuries and died just prior to the extrication beginning."
