  20. Scarborough's seaside wheel could keep on turningpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 13 August 2019

An observation wheel at a seaside resort in Yorkshire could be spinning longer than expected.

    Wheel

The 104ft-high wheel has been operating on the site of the former Futurist theatre on Scarborough’s seafront since the end of July.

Scarborough Borough Council said the observation wheel would operate initially from 30 July to 26 August.

But the company which runs the wheel has applied to the council to keep it in the resort until November.

The wheel is temporarily in place on the seafront as the council examines its deal with Flamingo Land for the site.

Flamingo Land wants to build a £14m coastal attraction complete with rollercoaster and Cliffhanger tower where the theatre once stood.
