The victim, who is in his 30s, was setting up filming equipment in a wooded area in Shipley when he was approached by two men, one of whom was brandishing a knife.
The pair stole his camera and laptop during the incident which happened near Redburn Road between 13:00 and 14:00 on Thursday 26 September.
Both suspects are described as white and in their late 20s or early 30s.
One had dark brown hair and a black tracksuit, the other had blonde, scruffy hair and was wearing a blue tracksuit.
West Yorkshire Police said the victim was unhurt and released the e-fit image above of a man they want to identify.

The new system was put together with the help of a £7,500 grant from the sustainable development fund, external run by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
The Cave Rescue Organisation was set up to help people in trouble in the labyrinth on caves in the limestone hills around the borders of Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire, but it also deals with people in trouble on the fells above.

It happened at about 20:30 last night on Royds Avenue as officers responded to a call for help from a woman whose car was being damaged and the male suspect was still on the scene.
The two attending officers were abused and then attacked as they went to a nearby address to make an arrest, leaving both with serious injuries and one unconscious.
The officers were taken to hospital for treatment.
Four people have since been arrested in connection with the attack.
West Yorkshire's Chief Constable John Robins said: "If it were not for the swift response of their colleagues who rushed to help them, I dread to think what the outcome may have been."
A man and two young children were taken to hospital after the car they'd been travelling in was found flipped over in a ditch next to a busy North Yorkshire road this morning.
The white car was spotted upside down in a ditch by an ambulance crew driving on the A19 northbound near Crathorne. They immediately started a rescue effort.
The driver, a man in his late 40s, was taken to hospital, along with a young boy and a young girl.
The front seat passenger, a 29-year-old woman, is believed to have escaped serious injury.
The road was closed for more than eight hours following the crash as investigations were carried out.
Any witnesses to the crash are being asked to get in touch with police.
Ms Howells, from Harrogate, was last seen in February, police say.

Susan Howells, 51 was last seen in North Yorkshire in February.
West Yorkshire Police have said they've found the remains on private land in Doncaster.
Keith Wadsworth, 60, from Dunscroft in Doncaster, appeared before magistrates on Thursday charged with preventing a lawful and decent burial.
Dale Tarbox, 39, of Station Road in Doncaster, has also appeared in court charged with Ms Howells' murder.
Both men have been remanded in custody and will appear before Leeds Crown Court on 30 October.
