Scarborough’s seafront observation wheel will remain in place until November, councillors have decided.
The 32-metre high wheel has been operating on the site of the former Futurist Theatre since the end of July.
Observation Wheel UK was given a 28-day use of the site by the council with the option of making it longer.
Though the initial 28-day limit passed in August the council has allowed it to continue to operate while its planning application was assessed as it was deemed the wheel was not causing an “unacceptable impact”.
It will now operate until 10 November.
It wasn't a good day for one family in South Yorkshire after having two uninsured cars seized within a matter of minutes.
The first car was bought from a seller on social media at a "bargain price", police say.
But the driver didn't bother to insure it and so had the car seized.
Their mother then came to pick them up, also in an uninsured car.
South Yorkshire Police seized both cars leading to what they describe as a "very expensive day" for the family.

Parkland left like a "battlefield' after a major cycling event will recover "faster" than expected, a council insists.
The UCI Road World Championships took place in Harrogate between 22 and 29 September.
Heavy rainfall had a significant impact on the spectator area in part of the town's 200-acre (80-hectare) Stray.
The borough council said the event would also enable tourism in the area to "keep buzzing".
The damage has attracted strong criticism from the Stray Defence Association.
Judy d'Arcy Thompson said: "Everyone looking at it can see the absolutely tragedy that's occurred. It looks like a battlefield quite frankly."
Harrogate Borough Council said it would ensure the area was restored.
"Without minimising what needs to be done, the ground can recover quickly and faster than many would expect," a spokesperson said.

Pennine Foods in Beighton, Sheffield, could close under plans by the 2 Sisters food group which says the site "continues to be heavily loss-making" despite recent investment.
A consultation will now take place into several options, including the possible closure of the site.
However, the firm said it was "committed to exploring the full range of options before any final decisions are made".
"We do not take this decision lightly and fully understand the impact if this proposal goes ahead," the firm added.
Reacting to the news, Clive Betts, Labour MP for Sheffield South East, said the possible closure of the plant was "a bitter blow to the 600 employees and to the whole of the local community where many of them live".
About 250 people have gathered for the funeral of Hull University student Libby Squire, whose body was recovered from the Humber estuary in March.
The 21-year-old, originally from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, disappeared after a night out in Hull on 1 February and she was found seven weeks later.
A public service has been held at St Lawrence's Church in West Wycombe.
Ms Squire's coffin was surrounded by white roses and driven to the gates of the church in a vintage car.
Respects have also been paid in Hull with flowers being laid on a bench on Beverley Road where she was last seen.
A number of people gathered to observe a minute's silence, light candles and read a poem while Ms Squire's funeral service took place.

A pet parrot has been credited with helping to prevent a burglary at a house in Sheffield after it scared off the would-be thief with his squawking.
The African Grey, called Taffy, was in his cage when he heard the burglar trying to break in to the house in Greenhill on Sunday evening and started squawking.
His calls woke his owner up who then ran downstairs to disturb the offender.
Sergeant Dave Cremin from South Yorkshire Police said: “They say dogs make the best security guards, but Taffy did a pretty good job at ruffling this burglar’s feathers."
The demolition of dozens of homes on an estate in Leeds could get the go-ahead later.

Residents say they fear the plans could "destroy" a community which has existed for decades.
