    However, one lane remains closed, as does the southbound carriageway between the A46, near Newark, and the B1174.

    Highways England says it is opening one lane northbound on the A1 after the road was closed in both directions because of an earlier accident.

    The road was shut at about 12:50 after a "serious" crash involving three vehicles between Balderton, Nottinghamshire and Long Bennington, Lincolnshire.

    Ther southbound carriageway remains closed and vehicles stuck in the five miles of traffic are being turned around.

    A Leicestershire theme park has fully reopened following a fire after a robbery.

    Police said a group of men broke into the reception at Twinlakes after threatening a security guard with a crowbar.

    The subsequent fire destroyed an office block, the reception building and a toilet block. One corner of the entry gate kiosks was also damaged.

    The blaze was believed to have been started deliberately, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service later confirmed.

    Two women police wanted to talk to about an incident in Leicester on 14 August have been identified.

    A photo was shared by Leicestershire Police of two women police wanted to speak to in connection with abuse being shouted at residents in Main Street, Humberstone, just after midnight.

    Officers said two women have now been found and thanked people for sharing their appeal.

    A man has been taken to hospital following a "serious' collision involving three vehicles on the A1 in Lincolnshire.

    The collision happened at about 12:50 between Long Bennington and Balderton.

    Highways England said the road has been shut is both directions after a lorry went through the central reservation.

    Lincolnshire Police say the southbound carriageway will remain closed for most of the day but it is hoped one lane on the northbound carriageway will reopen at about 16:00

    Officers said one man has been taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, though he is not believed to be seriously injured.

    Two men and a women have been arrested after a man was robbed of his phone in Sutton-in-Ashfield last night.

    Nottinghamshire Police said the robbery happened in Langton Court at about 23:00 BST when a man was threatened at an address.

    He was chased by someone carrying a knife after fleeing the scene. The force said the victim was not injured in the incident.

    Two men, both 39 years old, and a 41-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody.

    Nottingham East MP Chris Leslie has accused Boris Johnson's government of "basically gagging MPs and gagging representatives of the people" with plans to suspend, or prorogue, Parliament.

    It comes after yesterday's announcement the House of Commons would not sit for at least a month, in what is thought to be an attempt to limit the ability of MPs to legislate against a no-deal Brexit.

    The Independent for Change MP was confident there were enough MPs in Parliament to stop a no-deal scenario.

    He said: "If we decide... to legislate to stop this nonsense, then we can do just that."

    The deputy leader of Gedling Borough Council has "offered assistance" to the Balfour Conservative Club after it was sprayed with graffiti last night.

    Councillor Michael Payne called the vandalism on the club in Arnold "utterly unacceptable".

    The words "stop the coup" and "undemocratic" were written on the club's wall, after news that the government intends to suspend Parliament in September.

    It is believed it will reduce the number of days opposition MPs have to stop a no-deal Brexit.

    Mr Payne said: "A desire to strongly express views about an issue is never an excuse for vandalism of someone else's property.

    "I've been in contact with the Balfour Club and have offered assistance with cleaning up their premises."

    Birds of prey are being subjected to "relentless persecution," according to the RSPB.

    The charity's Birdcrime report identified the Peak District as one of the country's blackspots for the number of offences recorded against birds.

    The RSPB said the worst areas were primarily on and around land managed for driven grouse shooting, where estate owners see birds of prey as a threat to their stocks of red grouse.

    Olivia and Oliver are the most popular names for babies in the East Midlands during 2018, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

    The two names retained their number one spots from the previous year, and the name George was second most popular for boys.
